Quite obviously absurd to write him off at this time. I would say too soon to mark. We all knew he wasn't blessed with much pace but we hoped that his skill on the ball, his finishing with head and both feet and his physical presence as a focal point would be enough to make him a success in the Premiership. The German League is a strong league and Dzeko clearly has the determination to succeed here. I'm confident he will. Personally I don't like Tevez up front on his own. It may have worked in the odd match but inevitably he drops back and we end up with no one up front at all. The important thing about Dzeko is that he must by all means work hard to press the Opposition high up the pitch but STAY THERE. I don't want to see him dropping back like Tevez.

The real problem for me is Tevez. He's scored so many goals for us, he works his balls off but he hasn't been able to work well in partnership with another forward. For the life of me I can't see why he can't play off Dzeko (or for that matter Balotelli). I hope Mancini will try that option more often (ie a 4-2-2-1-1). Of course in an ideal world you want the team to play with a clear defensive shape when we haven't got the ball and as much movement and changing of positions when we have got the ball to dazzle and hopelessly confuse the Opposition. Total football was the name wasn't it? Of course that means a huge amount of discipline from players not involved in any attack to cover at lightning speed if we lose the ball. Probably an impossible ideal and I can't imagine an Italian manager having any truck with it.

We have lacked pace and width all season. Even when Johnson is back he has not got real pace. He beats the same man 3 times before he gets a cross in or is near goal. If I would like us to play 442 but the wingers need real pace to defend and then break at pace.(our current squad is not built for this). If we do this dzeko will come into his own.

Dzeko does not need a pacey winger to flourish necessarily. At Wolfsburg his main provider was Misimovic. A classy playmaker, but if you could measure acceleration on a scale of 0 to 100 his would be negative.

It is true, however, that playing against a deep line does not suit him, if he has to pick up the balls at the half-way line himself.

Fair enough mate. He's certainly well capable of scoring goals after being slid in by Silva or Yaya. There again I don't think he'd say no to a few crosses every now and then.

Said it since he came, he's looked incredibly average ever since he came. Maybe he'll turn good but has shown nothing to justify the price tag so far. Suarez on the other hand..

Surez is not better than Tevez or Silva. You dug that hole already, then tried to dig your way out of it by saying he could replace Vieira, which shows complete cluelessness.

Dzeko has scored more goals than Suarez since Jan. He has more assists. He played in a better league previously. All that said, they are chalk and cheese and if you have already made your mind up about him, then fine.

We'll see how both are getting on this time next season eh?

I remember very very late in the game seeing the first ball we thumped into the box and dzeko won it, thats how we need to play with him on the pitch.

Not Dzeko's fault IMO.

Imagine how he'd do if he played for Tottenham... point and case:-)

Let's say we bought 1-2 good wingers this summer and started playing a system built for a 9'er upfront, he'd be 'edin them in for sure;-)

I remain with my previous posts. We should sacrifice one of our three defensive mid fielders for a forward player.
Dzeko has scored 4 goals? 2 against County and two against Aris. WOW. You can't just judge strikers on how many they score. Because on that logic Kevin phillips was better than Tevez.

Dzeko has been poor so far and two goals against a League 1 side doesn't cover it up.
