Bring on Spurs, says Kompany

Bring on Spurs, says Kompany

Postby Mark (Blue Army) » Tue Mar 22, 2011 7:24 pm

Another showdown with Spurs for a Champions League place will not worry Vincent Kompany if the climax to this season mirrors the last one.

The two sides have yet to meet on City’s home turf, with the fixture having to be rescheduled due to our FA Cup semi-final on Saturday, 16 April.

Harry Redknapp’s side had the last laugh when the corresponding game in 2009/10 became an eliminator for fourth place in the Barclays Premier League, thanks to a solitary strike from Peter Crouch.

Recent results for both clubs and those around them mean that the 10/11 edition could have the same implications, but the Belgian, who has been in outstanding form in this campaign, shrugs off the possibility.

He said: “We will see what happens. We hope that we can make a difference before then, and if it has to go to that game again then we will be happy to play it. We are ready for big days - Spurs, United, everything that comes after this.

“We are more solid as a team and I don't think that we will be fazed by the importance of the game. We will keep playing our game and get our goals, but defensively we are solid. There are no surprises for us there.

"We can win every game. If we win
every game, then we will be there"

Vincent also leapt to the defence of team-mate Edin Dzeko, yet to score in the league after his arrival from Wolfsburg in January.

He added: “He works hard for us. It is the hardest moment of the season to come into the team and have an impact. Edin has already been brilliant for us in certain games and that is a positive thing for me as I know that next season we will get the best out of him.”

There are a few players in the team that week in week out they give their all they leave everything out on the pitch, Vinny NDJ Carlos are a few the others that seem to only give 50% most of the time n cant be arsed are what will fuck us up, we need more with the attitude of these few then maybe we may get somewhere, half the team needs a rocket up their arse they've achieved fuck all yet but cos they are so called big names they're not arsed NDJ a world cup finalist and for me the best defensive midfielder in the world wants to stay for life he loves the club others take note!!!!!

Wish all our players had Kompany's (and De Jong's) attitude, commitment and confidence.

I personally will feel much better if we are at least 3 points ahead of Spurs when it comes to the final game of the season against them, you just know they will be more up for it if they are only 1 point behind us and they will fucking go all out, guns blazing while Mancini deploys de jong, milner, Vieira, barry and yaya as a 5 men defensive midfield shield and plays Tevez alone up front.
so now as every enemy circles our city
sour and sore, we swear war
