Micah targeting semi-final return

Micah Richards is to install an Oxygen chamber in his house in a bid to be fit for the FA Cup semi–final clash with United.

The Blues reigning player of the month was stretchered off in the opening minutes of England’s Under-21 win over Denmark last Thursday night.

It was feared he might be out for as long as a month with a hamstring pull but the defender is determined to beat the clock and make the Wembley date on April 16.

“I will do anything and everything to be ready for that game,” he said on his way for a scan on the injury.

“I knew straight away what I had done because I heard the dreaded ‘ping’. It is a bit sore but I’m hoping it is not too bad.

“Some of the other lads have used an Oxygen tent to help them recover more quickly from injuries so I am willing to give it a go. I will sleep in the thing if necessary. I want to be available for that game against United. It is going to be a great occasion.

“It is a bit of a sickener picking up the injury at this time; we had a lot of games in quick succession but I felt I was holding my form quite well.

"I will miss a couple of vital Premier
League games but I won’t miss the
semi-final through lack of trying"

Richards was in the process of captaining the young England side in Denmark and they went on to win the game 4-0.

“Anytime you wear the arm band for your country it is an incredible proud moment but I ended up watching eighty minutes from the sidelines,” lamented Richards who will take his leave of the under 21s after this summer’s European Championships back in Denmark from 11-25 June.

“But the lads were brilliant and we have a decent squad going forward into the tournament in the summer.”

Fingers crossed. He's becoming an important player for us. When he's been on form lately, we've done well.

If Micah heard it "ping" I wouldnt hold out much hope for him being back for the semi. Boyata migth have to fill in or even Logan can do the job and up his game for a game or two.

SWP
Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

Why don't we just have all our players living 24/7 in oxygen tents. Create super people from consuming absurd amounts of oxygen

Manchester City defender Micah Richards is expected to miss the club's FA Cup semi-final clash with Manchester United after scans revealed he has a grade two hamstring tear.

Micah Richards celebrates the goal that got City to the semi-finals.
Richards, 22, lasted just five minutes of England Under-21s' 4-0 win in Denmark last Thursday, pulling up sharply and requiring a stretcher to take him off the field.

Under-21s boss Stuart Pearce revealed after the match that Richards feared a long lay-off and hospital scan confirmed that he has suffered a tear that will keep him out for four to six weeks.

"It is not what I wanted to hear at all," Richards said. "I felt sick when I was told. I knew from experience when I did it that it felt like a bad one but I was hoping for the best.

"All I can do now is concentrate on getting back as quickly as possible. I must admit I did think 'why me?' for a while when I heard the news.

"Of all the games to miss a Wembley date with United is the last one any player would choose."

Richards plans to have an oxygen tent in his house in a bid to speed his recovery.
