if the bars/pubs website says they are showing them-they surely are.

I think ESPN bought Setanta.. but they may be keeping there name for a few years..

but i am loving the ESPN2 HD games every Saturday.. Football in HD is amazing.

Yes they are, Sentanta USA and Canada are still alive (barely as and maybe less so as per Jamie's post) as I have seen most City matches not on ESPN or Fox Soccer at a pub in Fort Lauderdale.

Andeez, Fox is saying HD is coming "very soon"

Person familiar with negotiations: Fox negotiating buyout of Setanta USA

By Ronald Blum (CP) – 12 hours ago

NEW YORK — Fox Sports International is negotiating a purchase of Setanta Sports USA or many of its soccer rights, according to a person familiar with the talks, a possible prelude to launching the company's second all-soccer network in the United States.

Negotiations were ongoing and could be completed within days, the person said Friday, speaking on condition of anonymity because no announcement had been made.

Premier League games were dropped this week from the schedule on Setanta USA's website, but on Friday two games were restored for the weekend: Arsenal vs. Everton on Saturday and West Ham vs. Wolverhampton on Sunday.

The website EPL Talk, which first reported on the talks, said this week that a Fox company had obtained a trademark for the name "Fox Soccer Plus."

The deal being discussed would give Fox Sports International increased distribution of England's Premier League, the most-watched soccer league worldwide. Fox Sports International. a division of News Corp., owns the U.S. broadcast rights through 2012-13 and televises matches on Fox Soccer Channel. It has been televising the Premier League in the U.S. since 1998 and sublicensees some of the games to Setanta USA and ESPN2, which is televising 48 matches this season.

Fox also owns U.S. rights to England's Football Association Cup, Italy's Serie A and the European Champions League, which it took over this season from ESPN. British Sky Broadcasting Group, another company affiliated with News Corp., dominates English Premier League rights.

Setanta USA has rights to the English League Championship, the English League Cup and several other soccer properties.

Fox Soccer Channel says it is about to starting to broadcast in high definition, although its unclear which cable systems will carry it.

I'll be rocking 'Fado Irish Pub' for the semi on the 16th if any of you Philadelphia-area sorts are knocking about.

andeez nutz suggested it to me for the LC semi last year, but I never checked it out as the match was snowed off.

Dude yr only an hour from NYC. Catch a train into new York and head into the Mad Hatter. A proper Blues supporters pub. They are really great guys as well. You won't regret the extra travel mate. ;)

It sounds top but I have to hang around the Philly area because my missus is at a bridal shower in West Chester.

Might try and get up to NYC on one of the other days I'm there though and I'll check the place out if I do.

Incidentally, I had no idea what a bridal shower was until about a week ago. You lot have some fucking funny customs.

Thanks a lot. I've got a feeling I've been to a birthday party at that Dark Horse and if it's the one I'm thinking of it's not a bad suggestion.

Cheers.

Don't know where else to say this on here but -

If City can play with a fraction of the heart that the US national team plays with we'll be in good shape. The United States players are slightly above average (Dempsey probably being the their best player), but somehow manage to beat Brazil and tie Argentina through mostly hard work with a bit of luck. It's all about working as a team and having a belief that no matter what, you can still win the game.

Just watched the USA vs. Argentina game. One of the best games I've seen in a while. The USA players really gave everything they had. Amazing to watch.

USA required a bunch of luck and some world class play from Tim Howard, but it was the same story from the past year.

- Reached the final of the Confederations Cup after beating Spain 2-0
- Tied England after being 1 down
- Tied Slovenia after being 2 down
- Beat Algeria in extra time
- Came back from a goal down against Ghana (but lost)
- And now held on to tie Argentina

If you look at the quality of the players (improving but still just slightly above average) it really comes down to how they work as a team. In the game today against Argentina, US won almost every ball in the opponent's box, got solid tackles in, and worked their socks off the whole game. Messi was controlled by being swarmed as soon as he got the ball. Honestly, I wouldn't object to Mr. Bob Bradley being City's next manager. Doesn't give into player's egos, fires the team up 100% with the belief that they can beat anyone, and puts players in simple positions where they can be most effective.

It was also great to see the American players giving the Argies shit every time they resorted to ridiculous diving (especially Macherano).

I was there last night.
It was a great game, great atmosphere. 78,000+ there.
Howard was immense.
Messi was Messi -very nice to see him in person and what he can do.

Way too cold and windy though.. the last game I was at - The City-sporting lisbon game in New York was like 95 degrees.

So I've got a 95 degree game and a 25 degree game.

But a very nice result from USA, great game.

Alioune - I may go to Fado to watch the derby semi as well. But if you are staying in West Chester too (i actually am about 5 min from there now and there are plenty of pubs there too), there may be some closer options - I will PM you

Cheers. We'll actually be staying with my (future) sister-in-law in Holmes, which is right outside the city. My girlfriend is going to a bridal shower somewhere in West Chester.

She says that me going to West Chester might actually be more convenient so I'll probably do that. I stayed in there for three weeks in '08 - it's a pretty cool place and I know my way around it.

As for the poster who uploaded that photo of a load of young kids sporting City shirts, that is absolutely quality. I'll tell you why: most of my convos in the States start like this:

- "Where you from, buddy?"
- "Manchester"
- "Manchester United!"
- "No"

Great to see some kids over their who aren't darksiders by default.

I will be down in Cedar Rapids, IA during the game. My son's U14 team has a tournament that weekend. So depending on his game times will determine whether I get watch the game or not.
