Anybody Have Experiences With 'Kitbag Ltd'/City Shop

Postby The Original Special One » Mon Apr 04, 2011 7:56 pm

I ordered and paid for shirts over a month ago and haven't seen hide nor hair of them since.
I contacted the City shop a few days ago and a representative said they were posted shortly after payment, but that they must now be considered 'lost in the mail'.

I've since received an email from a company called 'Kitbag Limited' requiring me to to complete and return a form to them, requesting either refund or re-send.

I was initially surprised by the dispatch confirmation email which said I should receive my package within 7-10 days as I've generally received items from the UK at the latest on the third working day following posting.
Even more I consistently receive items posted by standard airmail from the US at latest five working days following confirmation of dispatch.

I've tended to be wary of these 'third parties' that are given contracts to handle orders like this and I'm concerned that this company, Kitbag, might be the 'Group 4' of the trade.

Having ordered the shirts I'm not inclined to give up on them so easily but I don't want to select the 're-send' option and discover, three months from now, that my shirts are on the same 'slow boat to China' that the original ended up on.
If indeed it even left the 'Kitbag' warehouse, in the first place.

Anybody got stories to share of the City shop/Kitbag Limited, good, bad, or the positively scary?

The only experiences I have had with them have been positive. Their exchange policy is second to none and the staff in the shop are very helpful and friendly.

Kitbag are our official partners, there was some big announcement about it at the time (last season I think) so they've been dealing with things for a while now. They have a pretty good reputation for sales as far as I'm aware, so maybe you should consider the 'resend' option? Totally up to you obviously.

Yes. I'm in the USA also, and have had two or three issues ordering from the City Shop online.
Your package will eventually come. It has taken a couple of months on two occasions for me.
On one occasion I thought it was lost and asked for a refund (shirts had been reduced in price since my order)
they gave me a refund after filling out a form. I then placed a new order. a few days later the original order arrived (shhhh).

I have since started choosing the express delivery option for a few extra dollars. the merch comes very quickly that way (UPS).
However, with one very large order (approx $500) the UPS driver charged me an additional $100 import tax when it was delivered.
I have not been charged import tax on smaller orders (approx $100-$200)

Hope this helps.

UPS are dicks for doing that - most of what you had to pay them was a 'handling charge' and the actual tax was a fraction of the extra cost. I used to get software delivered from the US by UPS before digital distribution took off, and they'd do it to me every time without fail.

I've bought a few bits and pieces over the course of the season, through mail order, stadium and City outlet. The worst experience I've had of the three, was the cardboard holding my mercer scarf had been damaged and the shop staff were extermely apologetic at the state of it. The scarf was in good nick, so I wasn't too fussed.

I also got a third shirt last week. Ordered late Wednesday here for Friday. The only complaint I have, is when you order something off the site quite often you can't track the order, but you can through the email they send you...

I've ordered a lot of stuff from the likes of Amazon, both UK and US, and other US companies like Deep Discount.
For the most part they arrive very quickly, but 'once in a blue moon' you get one thats been posted via the 'slow boat to China' option, which you seem to have been subjected to, also.

Since I made this post I googled the name; I thought I might find they have a 'Group 4' reputation, but it sounds like they're quite a prestigious outfit.

I was surprised at the low postage charge (to Ireland) but I just assumed that were was a contribution towards postage in the price.
In my case I shouldn't have needed to choose the 'Express' option, if there is one for Ireland
(I probably wouldn't have chosen it anyway, given the norm for postage to the UK)

They didn't have a tracking option; I thought, given the value of the order, that they would have

That sounds even quicker than my experience with packages from the US
(albeit Western US, which might involve changing planes)

Most things arrive pretty prompt to NI, except last chrimbo the missus ordered a teacup for work which didn't arrive until the new year. Turns out it came from Kitbag. A mate in work had the same experience with an Arsenal cup.

Also, Kitbag have their own website you can order from.

I don't know whether post to NI is quicker than to the Republic; it shouldn't be.
I told them I'd wait another week, just in case.
But, if the price has dropped, the refund might be the option to go for.
Then re-order at a cheaper price.

But at least it sounds like, by and large, they're a reliable outfit

Well, I studied history in school, but it only seems to be items posted in the UK that I have had problems with.
Only occasionally from US.
The Irish postal service has an excellent next-day record, though, to be fair! :)
