i know what you're saying ant - and i know that comparitively AD isn't the worst place in the middle east. But even your most rabid right winger on here would be amazed at some of the things that go on, and the whole case of sheik issa bin zayed al-nahyan is simply astonishing.

I find the "manchester thanks you banner" an embarrassment personally. On many levels Libya under gadaffi is/was a more egalitarian place than any of the gulf states. Just find it all a bit hypocritical.

and dingus - that even made me laugh :)

AD is one of the safest places to live or visit on this planet - so they are doing something right.

very true - am not a massive fan of them either, or some of the things that happen via the uk gov't. but they do provide some basic levels of human rights and freedom. belive me - i'd be just as annoyed if dick cheney or george dubya was in charge.
