Spot on LAHAD, loathe him or loathe him, he's a player who can and has hurt us in the past but no longer has any impact against us in the FA Cup.

Over to you City, what an opportunity and no room for any excuses.

They should have upped the ban.. simply to send out the signal that appealing for something that there is no case for is not acceptable. The rags should have realised that as soon as this went into the general public news and not just the footballing news that the whole thing was on a different level and that is the main reason the FA were not in any way able to smooth over it. Mrs MiddleOfTheRoad from Tunbridge Wells was appalled.. feathers were ruffled and uncouth footballers have to be seen to be punished. End of. The FA would have pulled the muck over themselves if they had been seen to condone shrek.

Still shows they are soft as shite though as they should have taken the opportunity to smack him in the face for not realising he should have shut the fucl up and accepted he did something wrong and the punishment gracefully. By appealing it he is seen to be not really accepting it as wrong and trying squirm out of the punishment. So imo once again the FA establishment can't separate it's concept of the England golden boys needing to be treated with care and as special cases. Can't help thinking if this had been Drogba or Tevez they would have thrown the book at them and increased the ban.

I dont see why they appealed it at all. He admitted he was wrong and should be punished but then decided to suggest what the punishment should be.

"Yeah Ok judge i know i was wrong and i broke the law when i messed with that 15 year old but i recomend you let me off with community service, wha d'ya saaay buddy???"

The rags just don't understand how the world works and if this is the start of them being treated like every other club then they are in for a very rude awakening.

Very surprised the FA are standing firm on something.

Think he's scored a winning derby goal three times in the past three seasons. Definitely helps our cause that he's out.

Thet couldn't have increased the ban today.

When Rooney was charged he/manyoo had 3 options
1 Accept the charge and the 2 game ban
2. Appeal against the charge and risk an increase in the ban if appeal deemed 'cheeky'
3. Accept the charge and appeal against the severity of the ban

Having chose option 3 and accepted the charge there were essentially only 2 outcomes. The ban is upheld and he serves a 2 game ban or the FA agreed with his/manyoo's case for claiming the ban was excessive and reducing it to a single game.

It's good that the FA have stuck to their guns on this not just because he misses the semi against us, but it's about time they stood up for what is right, irrespective of whether it's shrek or whoever. Footballers in general need to be brought in hand for their lack of reespect for anything, everything and everbody, and this sends out the right message.

Rooney's statement following the decision sounds like that of a naughty schoolboy who feels hard done by and can't see why he's been singled out and picked on. This should be a time for him to take stock and realise that it's about time he grew up and stopped behaving like a petulant little twat and started taking some responsibility instead.

I'm not sure if it's a good thing he won't play against us in the semi-final, I'd liked to have seen us beat them with him in the side otherwise we'll get the if Rooney had have played excuse tim and time again.

I honestly cannot believe this. Fucking brilliant.

I also cannot believe that the horrible scouse gobshite has so little self-awareness and appears unable to understand (never mind be genuinely repentant about) what he did and why it was wrong

"I am not the first player to have sworn on TV and I won't be the last.

"Unlike others who have been caught swearing on camera, I apologised immediately. And yet I am the only person banned for swearing. That doesn't seem right."

YOU WEREN'T "CAUGHT SWEARING ON CAMERA" YOU DUMB CUNT, YOU SCREAMED THE EXPLETIVES RIGHT INTO THE CAMERA. There is quite a bloody difference.

Gobsmacked the FA didn't back down. Change in the air.

Leaving aside what a horrible cunt he is, they are a different team when he plays, and our chances of winning have gone up considerably.

Not only did he scream it into the camera, he made sure to stare Directly into the camera so there is no doubt where he directed his words. Their defense is ridiculous. If I punched someone in the face, then read a scripted apology afterwards, I still have to deal with the consequences of punching them in the face. This type of argument shows that the apology was insincere and the ban is deserved.

Good to see that there is some justice is football. Now for us to capitalize on it
