As much as I think hes is completely nuts.. I'd have no problem doing a straight swap Barton for Barry.

I thought this was about the Joey Barton who played for Newcastle v Stevenage but obviously not because if Barry ever produced a performance like that in a City shirt, he'd be fucking boiled alive in oil, so it must be some other Barton we're comparing him with.

I don't think saying stats back up what your saying is anyway to make a point. If Ozil plays in such a slow league why did he burn of Barry who has played most of our games this year.Maybe La Liga isn't as slow as people say.I think Tranny has been recorded as the fastest player on the planet and Messi ain't slow.
Anyway Thanks Joey.

It's true though, Quite simply without him we would of gone down. It doesn't excuse his horrible actions since them nor do I want him back.

He had the potential to be a real top class footballer but let his reckless personality get in the way.

I suppose Gaz needs to give his head a wobble and go and batter some 16yr old kid around in a town centre, then spend 6 months in clink. Oh how about kicking the fuck out of one of your team mates and getting sacked, or how about a cowdly punch to the gut of some softly spoken footballer?? Maybe getting sent off when your teams 3-0 down away from home cause you can't keep ya mouth shut is another one for Gaz to consider.

Does this thick twat never learn? Slagging off one of the best prof footballers in the game and calling him for it. Joey has had one good season in how many?? He has either been injured, suspended or banged up. Gaz Baz as been at it on a consistent basis for years at prem level so don't come all this Joey Barton is better bollocks. If he can do it over a period of time and act like a prof player then maybe but he ain't in Gaz's league IMO at this time.

Joseph Barton could easily be sectioned on the back of that article, unless he gave the interview on 1st April?

That's a quality education right there, dopey cunt. Not knowing how the story ends completely overshadows the gem of "Did you see the game against Germany at the World Cup?". Who the fuck is going to answer no.

Mancini weighs in on the topic:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011 ... l-adebayor

The Newcastle United midfielder, who left City in 2007 before Barry or Mancini was at the club, said: "Barry has got a very good agent. He is also discreet and always agrees with the manager. He is like the guy who sits at the front of the class and listens to the teacher. I certainly don't lose any sleep when I play against him."

Mancini shrugged off the attack. "Joey Barton is a good player," he said. "But Gareth Barry is a fantastic player. Gareth Barry is also a fantastic man. He always gives 100%, he does not speak back and he works for the team every day. All managers would want to have a player like that."

Mancini refers to it on this interview posted on the BBC.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13007663.stm

His face is a picture just before he says "Joey Barton is a good player, Gareth Barry is a fantastic player". If he had been drinking coffee he would have sprayed it all over the reporters but stays classy whilst clearly saying "PMSL"!

Thought it quite funny that Joey - one of the slowest players ever in a City shirt - should label GB a tortoise. :-)

Joey is a class act. Directly and solely responsible for everything good that has happened to City since he first pulled on a shirt, even to this very day. I feel sorry for all of you if you cannot see it.

Top attitude that. Maybe he should have, we did the double over Newcastle this season and Barry scored the opener at St James Park.

Joey Barton has hit out at former Manchester City team-mate Ousmane Dabo over the infamous training ground bust-up in 2007 that left the Frenchman in hospital.

Barton, who has since joined Newcastle, was handed a four-month suspended prison sentence for assault along with 200 hours community service, after Dabo pressed charges. But the 28-year-old claims he has never told his side of the story and revealed that it was Dabo who started the fight.

"I have never given my side of the story, but the truth is that he started the fight and I finished it," Barton told French Magazine So Foot. "Frankly, Ousmane is a little pussy. It's him who hit me from behind with his hand.

"When he did that, I hit him back. It happened just like that, bang, bang bang and it was over. But I am no monster. I don't like fighting, but it's human to defend yourself. The problem was I hit him three times. Of course, it was not the best response, but I grew up in the street and when I am attacked, I defend myself and when you fight, there are no rules."

Barton wanted the pair to sort out their disagreement between themselves and said he was ''angry'' over the way that the incident has been portrayed.

"I wanted to discuss it like men, but he never came to see me and that makes me angry because he told lies in the papers and I was not able to respond,'' Barton said. "There was a late tackle in training and we exchanged a few words. I have an aggressive style and he wasn't happy.

"I told him, 'You are a piece of s**t, don't come looking for me'. He said, 'You are arrogant, you think you're something special'. We kept talking and I said, 'Yeah, you're great', but it was sarcastic because he was not playing well, so he slapped me from behind. He tried to be the bad boy, but it was him who ended up on the floor."

Dabo, who currently plays for MLS side New England Revolution, has previously maintained that it was Barton who attacked him from behind, labelling him a ''coward'' and said he was hit while unconscious from the first punch.

Spot on.

I was big fan of Barton while he was here because he was a good player in a load of dross and he showed passion etc...

But all of you in this thread thinking that Barry is where he is, both in terms of club level and international level because of his agent are barking mad.

Football doesn't do long term accidents... Barry doesn't have all of his England caps because he is the teacher's pet. He wasn't courted by Liverpool for an age because his agent is super. He didn't just captain England by accident.

He is an excellent midfielder that can control the tempo of the game. He is most definitely not fast, but to be honest, while there has been times where his pace cost us, they are few and far between, because I think he reads the game excellently and draws fouls like very few on the team, at times when we need to stop opposition momentum.

I don't like the three of Yaya, Barry and De Jong because the balance isn't right, but that doesn't mean its Barry's fault IMO.
