My point is that these 'monkey chants' are not monkey chants at all, the media just impose British values on another country's culture and customs.

See, personally I find this racist:

a) monkey chants in Britain are racist.

b) similar (ooo-ooo-ooo) chants are made elsewhere

c) everywhere has to be like Britain, therefore the chants MUST be monkey chants, and therefore MUST be racist.

Why doesn't the press report when the exact same noises are made towards white Hungarian/Maltese/Irish/Kazakhstani people? Because they're white, and the idea that such noises are 'monkey chants' somehow doesn't fit then.

I've already stated that I've made such noises towards John Arne Riise. Am I racist because of that? If not, then why, exactly?

I haven't mentioned Spain- I was talking exclusively about Balkan nations (although perhaps Johnny Foreigner is all the same to you). To me, Spain appears to be the most racist and bloodthirsty nation in the Western world, and their 'monkey chants' do constitute racial abuse. The same with Italy and Russia- both countries, in my opinion, have a severe problem which needs to be addressed.

What I do remember is the condemnation of Croatia fans for it. If the team England fielded was all-white, the exact same noises would have been made. During the game, the same chant was aimed at 2 or 3 players, irrespective of race, as in most games. I'm not making excuses for racism, or saying it's an acceptable form of racism, but that this chant in former Yugoslav countries is not racist in any way whatsoever, and not connected to race, monkeys, whatever, and nobody over there makes such a connection until it's seen on the news a few days later that the British press are describing 'those Eastern Europeans' as racist. Basically, it's comparable to the noise some fans make when a goalkeeper is lining up to take a goal kick in Britain.

With the Ballotelli issue- I've already stated above that Italy has a major issue with racism which needs to be addressed urgently. The same with Russia: racism, added to all their other problems, is going to make for one seriously shitty World Cup.

I was hoping to keep to only reading when it come to this thread but some things have been said that I feel I had to comment on and you seem to be asking me a question.
Now when someone jokes in front of me, I'll definitely think twice and speculate whether they are trying to tell the truth BUT they don't want me to know it is the truth and tried to hide the bloody truth behind a joke.
I think it was caused by no filter being between his mouth and his brain, that is the effect racism has on a true racist.
