MANCINI OUT

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Of the 8 games we've lost in the league, De Jong has been missing (at least, hasn't started) 6 of them. As far as I can see he's started all the others we've won / drawn apart from 1.

Relevant to those losses or coincidence? Mancini's fault?

EDIT: Might only be 5, but in the Arsenal game obviously we lost a man after 5 minutes.

When I saw he was on the bench I knew it would be a rough night; we just can't protect the backline without him, not with Yaya and Barry; they're too slow to do that job.

That was the selection I was most baffled at, but keeping Silva on the bench was another one which had me going "wtf!??"

The only explanation for Mancini's behavior last night for me is that he is going at the end of the season. He don't care where we come in the league, but wants to keep his perfect cup winning record at every club he's managed. That is the only thing I can think of for a reason for dropping Silva, De Jong and Ballotelli against Liverpool.

Yes it is

No it isn't. If it was, he'd have been sacked already for being behind schedule on his points target, like the last bloke; unless we've revised it down from last season for some reason.

He's been trusted to do this job because he's supposed to be something special which sets him apart from the previous manager who was sacked for not being special enough, having lost to Spurs away after he'd just beaten Arsenal & Chelsea & was awaiting a cup semi final v Utd. Under the circumstances, the Liverpool game was worse than the Spurs one.

It's about whether he's the right bloke for our future. If we'd kept Hughes & he'd performed exactly the same way, we'd all be pretty certain now that he'd had his chance & needed to go, whatever the final position. Bob is getting the benefit of the doubt in the interest of stability, not because he's proving he's the right man.

Did you enjoyed our 5-0 win the other day then?

That's be the win after which girlcini said he couldn't understand how we'd scored 5 and where it then emerged Khaldoon had done the team talk. Plus sunderland were shocking.

I think he recons he can switch players & do what he wants because of his brilliant training & tactical nous; they can all just slot into one of his systems. Putting Boateng & Boyata together v Arsenal was another example of the same nonsense.

If there's one good thing to come from this, it could be that he's finally realised he can't.

If there's one good thing to come from this, it could be that the owners have realised he can't.

Send him back to Italy, where he'll probably be a success domestically and some will say we should have given him time. But he will never win anything outside of a poor Italian league that's still playing systems 10 years out of date.

Sacking a manager in the last part of the season isn't really a bad thing. Look at Inter Milan, they sacked the spanish waiter (in the middle of the season) and they start playing football again, and now they still have chances to win the italian league.
I said it and i will say it again, Mancini has lost the dressing room. No one respects him, no one likes him. If he will stay on the 4th place untill the end of the season, he may continue here, and i don't think no one wants that, that is how the footballers are playing like crap.
Can we blame them?

the only good thing that i can think may come from last night is that he may actually decide to go for it against the rags. The defensive shite will not work against the big teams.

gutless ? i think the opposite - it is brave to rest your best players (de jong & silva) against a supposed weakend liverpool team - which would you prefer go all out last night or do it next saturday - i know which i prefer - city could afford to lose last night and still be in the mix for top 4 . you all need to take a chill pill and re-convene next sunday - any moaners who do not fancy the wembley trip anymore , i know plenty who will have their tickets . tevez has done next to nothing since xmas so do not see his missing as a major problem .

That's right. Who needs Tevez when you see the sort of quality & workrate we produced last night?

I suspect it'll be the opposite. He would have been worried before hand, but after last night and with tevez out, he'll be playing for penalties.

He can't risk balotelli in a high pressure game and they may as well have a competition on the website to play centre forward than send Dzeko out there. He'll go with de jong, barry and yaya in the middle, with milner and silva a bit wider, but not getting forwards. He could drop one of the latter two and put Vieira in if he's really worried. Dzeko will be left on his own to chat with vidic. Occasionally, we might try a hopeful punt into a channel, but mainly, we'll look scared to leave our own half.

Tbh I think it could go either way. I don't think he's got even a sniff of a fucking clue what his best formation, team or method is & his recent decision to play an attacking side v Sunderland paid off even though he doesn't know why. He may decide to go for it & that could save his job by boosting the team for the rest of the season. He can play his strongest team in almost every game after that & could end up a tactical genius by complete accident.

lol, only city can spend 24million quid on a striker that cant be risked in a massive game because he is a complete twat.

Well I've given myself all night and all this morning to calm down and think about it and I'll say this much ...........

I want us to beat the rags this weekend, of course I do, but I also 'fear' it ....... because getting to a cup final and maybe winning it will quite likely keep this fool in a job, which will mean more of the same shite next season.

Marvellous!

He was acting like we were still playing two or three games a week - the players had just come back from an international break and there's five days between the Liverpool game and the cup tie, there was no need to take de Jong or Silva out of the starting lineup. If he wanted to rest them he should have made sure they started the game and then fired the players up enough to get a decent enough lead to allow those two to be brought off.
