Betting on the rags this Sat

Postby Dubciteh » Fri Apr 15, 2011 12:15 pm

I know i know but hear me out 1st....

I want to put £200 on united to go through at 1/2 giving me a return of 100£ profit.

Now obviousley i dont want them to win so the way i look at it is this if we win i will be ecstatic fuck the 200£ it means nothing in comparison to the cup final, however should we lose i will obv be devastated but i will have 100pound to get over to a city game before the end of the season, that 100£ will cover flights and match tickets, i havent been to a game this season for the 1st time in years and it kills me so it would be a small consolation should we not get to the final.

Thing is my conscience wont let me put the bet on even though its win-win i either get a cup final for 1st time in my life or i get a visit to the Mecca in the next few weeks. But my head wants to do it.....

Anyone any thoughts?

Typifies the type of “Supporters” we have on these boards to me.
How someone can bet against their own team is unbelievable.

If you didn't put a bet on at all, wouldn't you have that £200 to make it over for a City game, rather than the potential of losing £200!?

Dub back them at 16/5 minus a goal, far better value to be had ;)

Ps. If you're trying to get over, go for the spurs game! I've got flight, ticket, hotel for £115

Good point, i shouldve pointed out i dont have the £200.I have to borrow it, i havent even thought how i am going to pay it back but it will be a lot easier to worry about if i have a cup final to take my mind of. Make sense? I have unusual logic sometimes....

Thousands of us are paying a fortune to travel to Wembley on the worst possible weekend, paying for travel, ticket and overnight accomodation.

At 7.15 if I am leaving the stadium after those twats have beaten us again, I will seek solice in the thought that you will be jumping through hoops because you have won a £100.

The stick I will be getting from the Rags on the way out, on the tube and no doubt all night in London and all next week at work wont hurt me as much because I know you will be happy you won a £100.

Good God , I would rather eat shite than put a penny on those rag twats beating us.

As a rule I never bet on any game City are involved in.

I must admit I'm tempted to find out what odds I would get for a 3-0 City win tomorrow doubled with a 1-0 Bolton win in the final ... funny things happen in football so it could be 1926 all over again ...

As for putting any money on the rags let alone to beat City, you should be ashamed of yourself ... save the borrowed £200 and put it towards flight now ... imo

I was going to say it is your money, do what you like with it. Why gamble with money that isn't even yours, mate? Going into debt to gamble sounds like a problem.

I can understand that making 100 quid might lessen the pain of a defeat a little, but I have to say I would not place the bet.

Perhaps this is not what you want to hear, but you did ask, chief.

Thanks for the answer.

I understand what your saying, i just want something to soften the blow as im a disaster after we lose a derby, im unnaproachable for days. My conscience is telling me there is no way i can bet on them but a trip over would soften the blow....

If I was a betting man I'd only bet what I could afford to lose - it sounds like you can't really afford to lose it.

A friend of mine does a similar thing to you. He bets on Spurs to win whatever league match they are playing in. He's made a few quid recently and done the blues a favour in the process. The other year when Pearce was in charge he bet on city to get beat every week. He reckons he kept them up that year.

Sorry mate, are you in Sydney or back in Ireland?? Either way £100 for a return flight, footy, spends and some beers is pretty dam good!!

Dont bet what you dont have. If your trying to make £100 by borrowing £200 regardless of your love for City you need to take a step back and asses!! Sorry mate dont want to be a kill joy.
Hark now hear, The City sing, United ran away, And we will fight for ever more, Because of Derby day.

It is a disgrace and cardinal sin to bet against your own team, especially for the biggest derby in history. You are a complete moron for betting money that is loaned to you. Man the fuck up.

Borrowing to bet Dub? Crazy mate, just totally daft. Other than that, how you bet is your business.

If you have to borrow the £200 to bet them don't do it; if it were yours, I could udnerstand the logic, although I still wouldn't bet against my own team (even given what you wrote of the reasons why you would do it).

Dub, just kick back and try to enjoy the game. If it's not tomorrow then our day will come.

Don't be borrowing £200.00 to bet for £100.00 insurance against disappointment, it's madness.
