Weiss heading back down the road to Manchester

Postby cdncityfan » Thu Apr 14, 2011 4:16 am

Quick update on Vladimir Weiss. Owing to injury, he has completed his loan to Rangers FC for the season. Excellent player for us this season, appearing 35 times and scoring 5 goals. Leads the team in assists, including a long cross which set up Nikica Jelavic for the winning goal in the Scottish League Cup final. He has repeatedly told the Scottish press that he would like to be sent back up the road next season on loan again. Not sure if City will do so, but he has certainly impressed in the SPL, whatever your view of Scottish football may be.

FYI, it was a foot injury. Not sure which bone is broken.

I would have preferred his loan spell to have been at a prem club to get a more realistic appraisal of his abilities, however, the Rangers move will have done his confidence no harm so next season, given he is deemed worthy of the chance, will probably be make or break for Vlad at City.
I'm not sure what Mancini has against wingers because there have been more than a few times this season we could have done with testing his abilities ourselves....

He's come on leaps and bounds whilst at Rangers and has really impressed me in games that I've seen, such a shame he got the injury. He seems to have got a lot stronger as well, which was one of the things he needed to make it in the Prem.

Definately a 'Keep' for next season and a player that I'd love to see running either wing. AJ and Vlad feeding balls in for our front men would make a real enjoyable match, and his skills are what I've been missing from the team this season. The trickery alone would have me wanting to go back for more.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

Much as I like Vlad, and as a Rangers backer too he's been good up in the SPL, lets be honest - he isnt going to get a chance at City unless the Sheikh buggers off and takes his money with him.

A permanent move elsewhere or another loan this summer will be the outcome.

makes me piss that terminology. I remember the first time I was out with a (Glasweigan) mate of mine in Brixton and asked him if he was out the night after and he replied "nah I'm away up the road". I thought he meant somewhere like Islington....turned out he meant he was off to Scotland for the weekend. Mad as cheese

Done very well at Rangers has Vladi. Don't think he will get much game time with us next season so another season out on loan will do him the world of good.

Maybe he can do pre-season with us and then August 11 - Jan 12 with Rangers if they qualify for europe and then maybe a Jan 12 - May 12 loan with a premier league club, then in July 2012 after hopefully playing in Euro 2012 with Slovakia and at the age of 22, he can come into our squad.

Still think he will play a big part for us, alot of people writing him off at his age yet wanting to buy someone else the same age on the back of one good season.

The important thing is he needs games, he's not going to learn to improve his delivery or when to release it sat on the bench or coming on for 10 mins, he needs full games in a proper competitive league.

Apart from being impressed with his skill on the ball. I was also very impressed by his vision. He also seemed to operate quite effectively in the centre of the park.
He's not the young kid he once was....About time he was given his chance and a decent run in a sky blue shirt.
