Glory Hunting Band-Waggon Jumpers

Glory Hunting Band-Waggon Jumpers

Postby King Kev » Sun Apr 24, 2011 10:00 am

It pains me that a thread with this title is about City 'fans' rather than the scum but I am already sick of people trying to get on the City Band-Waggon now we have reached a major final.

There is a girl at work who has never been to a match in her life and would struggle to name 2 of our players who was in touch with a contact at Etihad as soon as we won the semi-final asking for tickets, and she will probably get them!

With us having 11000 more season ticket holders than there are tickets for the final, there are going to be a lot of true fans who end up disappointed whilst non-City fans are working around the system to jump the queue.

I am totally confident that I will get my tickets, but it makes my blood boil that proper blues will miss out because of people who are just going along for a nice day out.

unfortunately it goes with the territory...

its something myself and a fellow blue down here have been accused of being for the past few years...

we will "acquire" new supporters as the, soon to arrive, success does attract them.

but the point about "True" Fans missing out will always be a painful one as long as the ticket allocation system stays as it is..

guess it comes with the territory.

at my 9 year olds' junior club here in halifax he's been the only one with a city shirt on for the last 5 years. at yesterday's club barbecue there were EIGHT other shirts. i'm not sure if i'm happy or sad.

Hopefully the renewed interest means we wont see a half empty stadium as much next season.

I'm sure if I was cashed up enough to come people would be hating on me for it too, despite paying my way over twice during the Pearce era, costing me thousands to see some shite football.

If I could afford it, I'd be there and I'd probably get a ticket from somewhere, no apologies I'm dying to see us win something just the same as you still there are.

Whichever way you look at it those tickets had already gone out of the pot and were destined for anywhere other than the 'True' supporter, just like a few tickets that ended up in peoples hands for the Semi (a few on here if I remember right).

As well as this, what else pisses me right off is that even if we get there, they either don't give enough tickets to those 'True' supporters as in the Final, or they price the lad on the ground out with a ridiculous pricing policy aided by inflation busting hikes in categories. Then there's all those tickets being sold on by what they call 'Reputable Agencies' who add on extortionate charges that could see a single ticket go for over a Grand! Bring back the ticket tout I say, at least with a number of them they'd be competitive.

And this is only the start of it. What about if/when we get into the CL, and possibly a final? I've heard that a ticket for that a Wembley this year are around £300 - Three Hundred Knicker -, a price that majority of 'True' supporters who will see the team through the Qualifying Rounds/Group stages will not be able to afford. And let's not forget the 20 odd quid for booking the thing 'cos it can only be done through a certain franchised agency. Apparently UEFA gave apologied for the pricing policy believing it to be quite costly, but they didn't say that when they set them did they, nor have they offered to give any of those takings back or drop the pricing for the remaining tickets.

I wonder if someone could bring in some rules on FFP for UEFA, or even the FA, 'cos I am sure we the supporter receive no Fair Play from either of these fuckers!

Oh, and Glory Hunting Band-Waggon Jumpers - Get your fucking own .......................... when you've earned it!

There are more than enough of the cunts at the club all te sudden.

Semi final - 31,500 tickets. Got all the way down to 1250 points (basically any seasoncard holder)

Final - 25,000 tickets. Club don't expect it to go past 3250. Do we really have 25,000 seasoncards with 3250 points? Do we fuck.

The club have took about a third of our allocation for there own people who didnt give a shit about the semi. If the club are doing it themselves we can't complain about normal fans doing it really

I don't get your point about the club.

The club gave the same ticket allocations for the semi to their employees as they have for the final. O2 Employees have first dibs on all concert tickets at the O2 Arena, HSBC employees used to get free tickets for the World Matchplay, KFC employees get 20% off food........its a fact of life that there are perks of working for a company.

Most of the employees take their full allocation of tickets for these games and I am sure that the tickets always end up in the hands of blues (from my own experience), so I really don't see the problem.

You may as well chill out about the ticket issue. It was always that way, I remember the same arguments as long ago as 1969. We have to understand that this is not a City match, it is an FA owned event. theirs, not ours. They have always used it for their own gain. greasing and lubricating the oily whells of football business and politics.
Being wound up about it is useless and like it or lump it, will only affect your blood pressure...not theirs.

On the bandwagon jumpers...I agree that there will be those who have no City affinity that will get tickets but as Sprtacus says, those tickets were never in the pot for the genuine fans.

With regard to new fans who become attracted to City because we have made the final...WELCOME THEM!!!. We all came from somewhere, we all had that 1st game, we all had that day we joined the City family. Some will give us a look and piss off quickly, others will stick around like we have and become emotionally attached to the Blues....THE NEXT GENERATION.

The City 1st for me?....The FA Cup Final 1956...Glory hunter????...and when I've gone...who replaces me???

No i think they have took more of the allocation this time then for the semi, probably the same for employees but extra for the sponsors and the like

Bang on John. If Leicester, Chelsea, Preston, Gillingham, Blackburn or any other fucling team wearing blue had of made the 81 cup final I'd be on their forum right now sucking their knobs. It is what it is. By being in the spotlight you are giving people an option to support you. The rags have their numbers because they have won games and are on the screeens.

I'd be interested to know what a proper reason to be a City fan is. In the eyes of some my status as a fan is safer (although diminished somewhat having moved to Canada this year) because I started supporting the club during bad times, but I only started because I liked blue and some of my friends were fans.

I have had many arguments with Leeds fans about 'supporting your local club' and they seem to think I am a fraud City fan for not following Rochdale (who, by the way, have had plenty of money from me over the years) so I would like to know what criteria has to be met to be a true fan.

Let me just make it clear, before I say this, that I am implying nothing about any of the previous posters here and accusing nobody, but I find this argument similar to the 'Who is more British?' argument invoked when 'debating' immigration and multi-cultural issues.
