Keep the passion to pip Spurs, urges Zabaleta

Pablo Zabaleta has told his team-mates that the semi-final spirit that won the FA Cup semi-final derby can see them to a Champions League place next season.

The Argentine defender, who returned from a bedside vigil with his father recovering from car-crash injuries, was proud and delighted at City's compelling performance at Wembley.

But he warned: "We have to focus on the Blackburn game, because they have a lot to play for. They are in a bad position in the table, they need three points, and they will play 100 per cent.

"We need to be the same as we were against United. We played good football, especially the second half - we played as a group, as a team. We were very solid defending and aggressive in attack.

"The game after an important win can be just as important. The passion and concentration against United was 100 per cent, but when you go to a lower-placed team it's sometimes different.

"We need to keep it strong and not relax. We must make it difficult to beat Manchester City and focus on getting Premier League points with only six games to go.

"Tottenham dropped points this week,
so that's good for us"

"Last year we were very close and it went to that last home game. We need to get to the Tottenham game two or three points ahead.

"So we need six points against Blackburn and West Ham. Then if we beat Tottenham, we would be in a great position. They obviously need to win their games also, but we must focus on ourselves."

Zaby's bare-chested roar of joy was one of the most striking images from last weekend, and he smiled: "Yes, that is because I do my job every day in the gym! We were all so happy.

"It was a great day, a special day for the club and the fans, especially as it was a derby. But nothing is won at the moment though, and we have to finish the season well to really celebrate."
