Think you can get 10 cards and no ban when you are in the last 6 games:-)

Definitely no ban, we're past the period where it would come into play

I think it is of you get 10 yellows between the start of the season and the second Sunday in April.

Hopefully that means Nige has avoided a 2 match ban and £15 fine.

wasn't a foul, never mind a yellow. City should appeal it.

Yep there will be no ban for any yellow cards.

Cut-off point was the round of matches a couple of weeks ago. So our last game for it was away to Liverpool.

De Jong is free to get booked in every game between now and the end of the season if he wishes

I think he might just do that...

Nigel did well last night, passing wasn't great in 2nd half but that goes for the whole team. Some great blocks/challenges in 1st half though.

I like his last yellow card. He didn't even remotely touch the player.

Oh, it was the "intent" that was the yellow. Bullshit. If intention is an indication of anything, there should be tons of yellow and reds every match.

also annoyed at the allowing play to go on rule !
we commited a foul (wide right of box) late in 2nd half ,the ref allows advantage as they are on the ball in an advanced position, this attack then breaks down . so the ref reverses his descision of 5 secs ago and gives them a 2nd pop by awarding the free kick...surely there must be rules/guidelines that dictate fairness to this passage of play !

I'm not sure, but I think there's supposed to be a three-second period where the ref can reverse his decision. However, referees tend to interpret time quite liberally in terms of goalkeepers' handling, so I don't see why they don't choose to do it for themselves, too.

You talking about the Kompany tackle outside the box? Where 'Vansan' didn't even know there was a player there?

Is that 3 seconds official? I thought it was meant to be something like the offside rule, another 'phase' of play. Last night's example was ridiculous, they gained an advantage in having an opportunity to cross the ball, the referee decided they hadn't gained any advantage because he twatted the ball beyond everyone. For me the advantage was the chance to cross the ball, the fact he ballsed it up shouldn't have anything to do with the advance in play.

I think when it was brought in, it was official. However, other rules surrounding this (for instance a clearer definition of what is deserving of a straight red) have changed, and so that ruling may be obsolete.

Edit: Just checked- FIFA Laws of the Game, p.66 (Rule 5- The Referee)

The decision to penalise the original offence must be taken within a few seconds.
