If they lose to Salford at the weekend they will have no chance of winning the league and will have gone 4 games without a win. Their last three games include Stoke (reserves?) the week before the cup final, Villa at home and Fulham away A win and a draw from those three gives them 68 points so we would need 10 points from our last 5 league games!
Normally Arsenal would be favourites but they have hit a bad patch and maybe we could just scrape it with a win at Bolton on the last day of the season.

It's as if City have just miraculously appeared in 4th position without having earmed it and Arsenal have some God given divine right to be above us. Abject and utter fuclin nonsense.
Mathmatically, we can finish on 74pts. We are better than all of the teams we have to play and there is no reason why we can't attain that total.
I expect us to beat West Ham on Sunday, I also expect the rags to beat Arsenal. (2pts behind them). Whatever happens between Chelsea v Spurs means one or both has to drop points, so either Chelsea drop closer to us or Spurs virtually drop out.
Next, we have Everton who we also should beat, putting us 1 point ahead of Arsenal (played the same number of games). It is then in our own hands.
Isn't this what we dreamed of for many years?..Except now we have arrived, many City fans are suddenly too frightened to dream any more.

I don't think John is being sanctimonious, I think he lives and exudes the spirit of 1968 when City played without fear and were scared of no-one. We just played all out attack from the first whistle and, although we sometimes badly came a cropper, more often than not we swept other sides away. We were totally irrepressible.
I wish that City were allowed to play like that today.

You know and I know that the overwhelming mentality on here over the last couple of years has been one of negativity towards our chances of success. I have never been dismissive of anyone's opinion mate, not when it has some basis of rational thought. Often it is solely based on fear.
The mistaken belief that we never have, so we probaby won't. Stuff like Spurs have always been our bogey team or Everton always beat us. are nonsense. Failure at City has always had reasons, be it bad stewardship of the club, bad management of the team or lack of resources to improve us. Those reasons have gone, they are our past and have no part of what is happening today.
It may be a generation thing but I have never known, nor can I understand this losing mentality when there is no reason for it other than fear.
We are in the FA Cup final because we earned that place and we are sat 4th in the league for the same reason. Arsenal are sat slightly above us because that is their level. Is it sanctimonious to believe that we can improve our level to beyond theirs?
There you go mate...you got the argument you sought...:-)

You are the ultimate hypocrite.
You preach on about patience when it comes to results(the project, the licking, the process), yet while it seems like our optimism is remaining grounded and moving along at a patient stately pace, you bitch and moan that we are not believing enough in this team.
