The Munich chants have been used by Blues for over 30 years now. If you are not comfortable with it then tough, because these songs will not go away. The songs are polysemic, for thick cunts this means they have different meanings to different people,as does the concept of why you are a Blue differ from fan to fan.

The Rags have exploited and practically sponsored the Munich crash for many a year, note the wankfest for the Sven Munich Derby. They did FUCK ALL for the survivors and families of those involved and many people forget that many more people died on the runway than just the 8? Players that not one rag I have ever met can remember all the names of.

Football used to predominantly attended by the working class male who would use both the language of the snooker hall and his fists. You may not like it but it's a fact. The live football audience has become far more middle class, but not to the point where quasi aggressive and insulting chants have been eliminated, because that is the historical nature of live football.

Once the Rags marketing machine cease to exploit the Munich issue then Munich chants will become anathema. Until then,go and watch hockey and don't become morally perforative if you hear a chant on the TV of which you disapprove. Disassociate yourself from the club or just accept that the chants will still be heard. You have a choice.

Totally agree, however, there's a difference between singing a song which slags them off for ignoring their own survivors, let alone the others on the plane, for so long and signing one word which the rest of the world thinks we mean something different by.

I have no problem with iffy humour, providing you know the audience and that they will understand it. I forwarded on tsunami 'jokes' to selected people in my phone book. Probably wrong, but a human reaction to many a tragedy. I also don't mind annoying rags or finding various ways to wind them up. I'm even for personal abuse of an opposition player, if it will put them off their game. The Munich chants make no sense though. It doesn't really annoy the rags, not as much as mentioning their debt or that they're not from Manchester does. Yet it puts our club in a bad light. Why sing something that makes us look worse than them, when there are so many others things you could abuse them about?

i feel this has only really come to light because rangers are in the spotlight about singing songs which are pissing people off, in my opinion.

i live on the isle of man, so when i'm watching us in the pub, there's usually rags, everton & liverpool fans in there aswell.

i've heard everton sing about heysel, liverpool singing about munich and the rags sing about hillsborough and about Foe aswell.

and what about the knobheads bonfire song????

i've also heard leeds sing about the bradford fire.

for me, we've all got songs that piss other clubs off, but when you've had a few beers we all sing them, in mary d's or else where. (not that saying its right) its just part of having a beer and watching football,
