A successful campaign.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

A successful campaign.

This has been a successful season for CITY even before the FA Cup final ( which will not be a walkover Stoke are a physically tough side), we will surely batter West ham on Sunday to cement next seasons Champions league place. So despite one or two hiccups along the way Mancini has done the business and he should definately stay, well done to the staff and players.
I am City til I die,
I am City til I die,
I know I am,I'm sure I am,
I am City til I die.

I am reasonably happy about the season. I don't think we'll screw up on the CL qualification and we could still possibly make 3rd. Making the FA Cup final and beating the rags at Wembley in the semi is a welcome bonus. The likes of Hart, Micah, Zaba, Johnson and Silva seem to have grown into their roles, whilst Kompany and De Jong have improved too. Dzeko, Boateng, Kolarov and Balotelli remain under the microscope but by next season should be well settled and will have a full pre-season to move on from.

Hopefully the club will have broken our 35 year duck by lifting a pot and our confidence levels and the teams self belief should be improved. Add to that a bit of squad strengthening and some clearing out over the summer and we could be set fair to build on this and really go for it.

We agree on that. I just hope that it was caused by his fear of failing to reach the targets set. Trying to build a longer term project, whilst meeting the short term demands. I also hope that next season, he will feel more confident about taking the shackles off and letting the football flow.
If not and he is sacked, at least he will have moved us on.

Eh ?? CHRIST ON A BIKE are you lot on fucking Pot ???...we have won fuckall yet...we can still be fucked for 4th spot and we can still get beat in the Final...if that nightfuckingmare scenario happens then it would have been a disaster of a season.

Lets not get the champagne out just yet for fucks sake...we still have 5 games left plus the FA final...I am highly confident we will do it but until then............JESUS......SOMEONE GIVE ME A VODKA.

Agree entirely.

West Ham are fighting for their lives, them snatching a point or even a win on Sunday is not totally out of the equation, and Spurs have a chance of causing an upset at the Bridge.

Lets not forget we also have to go to Everton, whom we never beat, let alone away, and then we have to play Spurs.

Still plenty of time for us to fuck this up...

I'd also like to thank the staff and the players for next season winning the leauge, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup. Sure there are a few games to play between now and then but we will 'surely' do it. Congratulations lads.

looks a lot better than the slating i got on here for saying get behind the lads at half time vs liverpool whilst 3-0 down. what a difference 2 weeks can make in football. looks a lot rosier now though i wouldnt bank on anything yet. this is city and the final against stoke is not going to be easy plus we have spurs at home and our record against them is shocking. its looking good but nothing is done yet

This may suprise some of you who seem so bloody hard to please.
When assessing whether this season is currently a success or not, it might be enlightening to look at it in the context of our club's history. The table below shows City's top 10 League seasons, based on the points per game average that we achieved. This season is currently the 8th best ever in our illustrious history. It may be worth noting that in that list of successful seasons, we only appeared in the Cup Final once before.

1....1968....2........1
2....1905....1.94....3
3....1972....1.9......4
4....1937....1.88....1
5....1920....1.86....2
6....1904....1.85....2....FA CUP WINNERS
7....1977....1.83....2
8....2011....1.78....4....FA CUP FINAL
9....2010....1.76....5
10...1978....1.71....4

Considering we are still a developing side, I reckon this season should at least satisfy even the hardest to please.

Can we not wait until we actually confirm the wankfest....I promise I will be the very first to get my cock out but before then can we tone it down and tread carefully ?

4th was the minimum target and we might achieve it, so potentially successful, yes. However, it's one of the weakest top fours I can remember and before xmas I felt top 2 was realistic, so it'll be a season where we achieve the minimum rather than meet our potential.

As for the FA cup, getting to the final is great, especially the semi, but let's not forget we had a pretty easy path there. So great yes and it COULD be a trophy on the honours list, but don't pretend it means we're the real deal

If you look at/remember the paths of the clubs that have won it in the past I'd say yeah, we are the real deal- if we win it.

This is pretty much my view.
I think we should have done better in the league, there are still problems. Lets not forget our two recent gutless efforts at Scouse and Chelsea. With the squad we have I reckon 4th was an absolute minimum and not some magical achievement.
I wouldn't be bothered if Mancini sodded off to Juve still.

I agree 4th and FA will be FANTASTIC but let's face it Pompey won the FA Cup, I would have preferred Europa League glory as this would give us Euro-wide recognition and also help our co-efficient out.

Getting into the CL will be throwing the monkey off our back, in a funny way there may be less pressure next season and by then Mancini will have had a full run with his squad. Remember this season plans were disrupted as everyone came back late from the World Cup
