He's only got 3/4 goals.

It helps if comparrisons are made with players that play in the same positions to be honest rather than strikers, however Bales assist rate is quite shocking to be honest and that is his job rather than getting the goals.

Bale's best performances were all in the Champion's Lg.

His POTY nomination was a joke.

Tbf to him though, the number of quality balls he puts into the danger area is pretty high. He did it again v Blackpool & nobody was there to score them. Spurs' strikers have been shite this season.

We would have to sign him as a left winger, even though he's meant to be a left back.

It was only last season that Spurs couldnt win a game when he was in the side.

Although he might solve our wing problem, he wouldnt solve our left back problem.

Not worth the £30 million we'd have to pay, which you just know Spurs would go and buy 5 fantastic players with.

If we signed Bale as a left back, we'd be signing a left back who makes Kolarov look like Stuart Pearce.

Bale is the worst fucking left back ever to play in the Prem.

The idea of signing Bale is ridiculous he will be the worst value for money in this summers market.I have a gut feeling Harry will be prepared to cash in while the goings good so he can fund some new signings. It would be a complete waste of money and would serve the dual purpose of lining Spuds pockets.

Go on then i've got nothing better to do on a sunday seen as wolves seem to have this game wrapped up.

Nani - 31 apps 9 goals 18 assists << POTY

baines - 35 apps 5 goals 11 assists << probably the best comparison.

young - 31 apps 6 goals 10 assists

I don't really see the point in comparing him to players in HIS position whatever the fuck that is left back? left wing? wing back? left wing forward? because he won Player of the year not best left footed player or best winger.

Seems like im having a go at chinners here but im not. This shit just really winds me up how the media talk utter complete shite and idiots actually beleive it and regurgutate it as proof of there awesome fanlyness when they know absolutely nothing. It baffles me how they get paid like the entire nation had a lobotomy that i missed and just decided that shiny headlines are infallible and actual facts are terrorists that want to kill your children. It's not just football either, how many tv shows has kerry fucking katona been on for fucks sake.

I hope wolves stay up aswell. I like McCarthy.

I've not taken it personally at all. Fair play with those stats you make the point far better. He may chuck loads of decent crosses in the box and as someone else said thats down to Spurs strikers being shite and I totally agree with you about the Bale wankfest for what it's worth ...

If Bale signed for the rags tomorrow, we'd all be wishing he played for City, by this time next season & if Ferguson got the chance to sign him, he would do it in a heartbeat. He hasn't been amongst the best players in the Prem because A: he's been carrying injuries for half the season (a big worry if we signed him) & B: his fantastic delivery into the box has been largely wasted on Spurs strike force. Make no mistake though, when fully fit, at his best, he's been the best wide player in the country by about 50%.

Doesn't seem to be fully fit very often though.

has had poor injury record to date and another injury on his dodgy leg. Doubt anyone will risk the sort of bid required in summer until he proves his fitness. Yesterday might be the best thing to have happened for spurs

Hyperbole, Ted. What about Nani? He's superior in tight areas, more effective, has a stronger "weak foot" & can occupy both flanks; in short, the better player.

I think Bale is a very good player, mind, but not 'the best' in any category whatsoever & certainly not by 50% or even, god forbid, the best player in the league period.

Bale at his best is the best wide player in the Prem imo, by a long way. Bale, when fit, can operate in tight areas too & take free kicks & put quality balls in without having to go past his man & run all day. I think people are forgetting his early season performances & remembering his more recent games when he's clearly not been fit. The downside is that he's not often fully fit. I'd still sign him though. We could afford to give him plenty of rest & not run him into the ground like Harry has done.

Gareth Bale could make up to £3million a year if he manages to trademark his 'Eleven of Hearts' goal celebration logo.

Bale has filed an application to the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) to trademark a logo which copies the goal celebration gesture he makes every time he finds the net, with a number 11 - his shirt number - inside the heart.

An independent tribunal will decide in the next two months whether he can trademark the logo. Should it give him the green light, the Tottenham forward will then have a powerful icon which he can incorporate into his image rights.

That could stand to make him up to £3million a year, according to Nigel Currie, director of sports marketing agency brand-rapport.

He said: "The possibilities are huge for Gareth Bale. Once he has that right he can cash in on it and become a more well-known player.

"A third of his overall income could be made from his image rights, potentially up to £3million a year."

Bale first incorporated the heart sign in to his goal celebration in 2010. He revealed afterwards that he did it as a gesture to his childhood sweetheart Emma Rhys-Jones, with whom he had a daughter last year.

Details of Bale's application to trademark the logo were first published last month. The 23-year-old, who scored 31 goals for club and country last term, has applied to trademark the logo for use on clothing, footwear and headgear as well as jewellery.

According to the IPO website, he has also applied to use the logo on leather goods, and "animal skins, hides; trunks and traveling bags; umbrellas, parasols and walking sticks; whips, harness and saddlery."

Bale is not the first British sportsman to try to cash in on his image rights. David Beckham was the most famous person to do so, but the 'Eleven of Hearts' logo gives Bale a head start on the former England captain.

"Beckham does various things for various brands, but having this logo gives you the opportunity to use it as the brand image," Currie added.

"It can appear on any sort of product he wants, so it has massive potential.

"Once you have got something that is readily identifiable with the person and has the potential to be seen by millions every time he scores a goal, then it becomes more and more recognizable globally."

Had to laugh today when i read he is trying to trademark that ridiculous celebration of his. That celebration makes my skin crawl every time i see it he does seem the kind who would fit right in at the swamp.I do think he could stick around with the Spuds for a while longer though.

are some of you fucking serious?

bale is absolutely brilliant. if you give him space anywhere on the pitch, he'll take advantage of it. I honestly don't know where all of this hate for him is coming from.

tevez fucks off for months and we love him, bale has a brilliant season and we say he's a horrible player.

if we're talking only about FOOTBALL, how can anyone say that he's shit?

he may be a twat, but isn't every pro these days?
