This is not the Champions League, this is the Qualifying Round! Bayern, Dynamo, Villareal etc. are amongst the easier ties in the Qualifying Round? Are they fuck.

So we get past the qualifiers and then what? We just fizzle out at the group stage because fucking Kyiv got there before us? We are in the Champions League, qualifiers if you want, but there. If we have any ambition at all we should be saying if we don't get third, qualifying will be a breeze.

How do you know the easier games in the qualifiers by the way when they're not even confirmed? Do you think Kyiv is an easier tie than Barca, Real, Milan, Man U?

What are you on about? All those teams are already qualified for the group stage! Out of a potential field of Bayern, Lyon, Leverkusen, Benfica, Villareal, Udinese, Rubin Kazan, Trabzonspor, Panathinaikos, Basel, Anderlecht, OB, Ajax, Twente, PSV, Oţelul Galaţi, Politehnica Timişoara, yadda yadda, how the fuck are the last year's finalists amongst the easier ties?

This is the Champions League. Bayern, Kyiv, Villareal are amongst the easier ties. THEY MIGHT BE THE MORE DIFFICULT QUALIFYING TIES BUT THEY ARE THE EASIER CL TIES.

How can you not get the message here?

Fuck the qualifiers, look at the bigger picture. Think of all the clubs that will be in next year's CL. Why fret over teams like Kyiv when beating them will only lead to significantly better teams?

I just don't understand why you'd want to concentrate solely on whoever is we'd face in the qualifying round rather than stand up and compare ourselves with the big players? Especially in a thread titled "champs league here we come", despite your claim that it's not actually the Champions League.

Because these two games are fuckin crucial. Get eliminated & the party's over before the damn season even started.

Get into the group stages & you'll have 6 games for certain & the chance to progress, even if you fuck up against top seeded teams like Barca. Fuck up against Bayern fuckin Munich in the qualifiers & GO HOME.

Not to mention the bastard money. Guess where that starts to flow.

How can you not get the message?

Give it up. The games are only crucial to get to the next set of crucial games.

This thread is about the Champions League and my comment was clearly about the Champions League as a whole. I don't really see how it's not obvious to you.

This for me is the key.

We have unlimited funds nearly and can offer the worlds two best competitions to new players.

By the time our potential qualifying opponents roll up at Eastlands, we will have some new players which will take us to the next level.

They will fear us.

Naturally we all hope to be in the champions league next year, so.............

How well do we have to do this year to get into pot one for the draw next year?

I reckon we are so behind in the point system that even winning it might not be enough.
I admit I'm not sure at all about that though.
