PL Games vs Stoke and Bolton

Postby ant london » Thu May 12, 2011 10:19 am

So, we have clinched the top 4 spot and we will have played the FA Cup after this weekend.

Two games left and some scope for experimentation? Or stick with what we know and try to pip Arsenal for the 3rd place?

Personally, the thought of playing a CL qualifier doesn't overly phase me and I would really like to see some decent gametime given to a few young lads in these last two matches of the season.

Would like v much to see Wabara, Razak and Guidetti getting a reasonable run out....maybe even a cameo for the likes of Roman and Bunn from what I've heard of them....maybe even Poole, Ibrahim again?

Couple of questions:

a) What would you do (kids getting a chance or stick with the older heads) and

b) Those who have watched the EDS a bit, who would you think merits some gametime?

I think it will all depend on what Arsenal do on Saturday. If they lose we play our best team.If they win and 3rd grows very unlikely he might give one or two a chance ( even if only on the bench) but i think it would be more about using the subs bench from the start so we would see Vieira,SWP,AJ,Milner,Boyata first before EDS lads.

Play too many of them and we might be embarrassed. Also what's the point of playing somebody who he has already decided won't be part of our future?

SWP who likely will be off in the summer MUST play at least the last home game.

He has earned that!

Full strength. Even if Arsenal win on Sat, they still need at least a point at Fulham on the last day to clinch 3rd.

I think if we beat Stoke and Bolton in the league we will finish 3rd and avoid playing the likes of Bayern, Villareal, Roma/Udinese in a 2 legged play-off - granted it could be a team from a Danish or Swiss league.

Shauny should definitely play some part of the game at Eastlands against Stoke, but really want the lad to stay and be a squad player for us again next season.

I think for the Stoke game the Arsenal result and how we are going after 55 minutes will affect our subs. If the Arse win and we are ahead playing Stoke, bring on the kids. If not, full strength.

full strength.. possibly some options on the subs bench depending on if we win the Cup and what Arsenal do. If we lose the Cup the two games will be tough for the team, if we win we will be unstoppable and you never know what may happen in the Arsenal games so...

Arsenal are only 2 points ahead, and games against Villa and Fulham are no guarantee. And given Arsenals current implosion, I expect them to drop points in at least one of the games.

We should go out full strength to win. Players have the whole summer to sit by the fucking beach and rest. There is pre-season to test out sub/youth players. Finishing 3rd removes a ton of stress in the buildup to next season and we can mess about later.
