It was absolutely laughable how much opposition his "signing" got. I felt it was good thing to get him on board and I still do. He came for free and helped to solidify team on lot of occasions from the bench. I wouldn't go as far as call him one of the most important signings but he was definitely good.
I got loads of stick for standing up for him numerous times. Once again it turns out I was right.

Anyway I was also one who was up for it (I didn't get as much stick as my learned friend here) because of the influence and experience he brings to the dressing room, you really cannot put a price on these things

Exactly Antti you massive bellend....you get abused precisely because of the nonsense like that you (and the Georgian "Genius" for that matter) are prone to come out with
You were right about Vieira, but you weren't alone in that, there was a small minority who saw the sense in it.
However on Philip Lahm you are so so so wrong, he's a triffic player

mate you're always right, apart from when you're wrong.
Douglas Higginbottom wrote:Overall probably just a positive rather than a negative. We will never know the real value of him behind the scenes with his influence on the team and some individuals especially. No doubt there have been games where he was found really wanting but some others where we could afford his total lack of pace to come in and do a job to rest the legs of other players.
I actually thought the Spurs game was a classic case of where some went OTT about Vieira. His introduction was clearly very important in changing the game around when it was slipping. But it was the introduction of a player in that role which was the significance and not that it was PV.Any decent player coming on in that role would probably have done the same because it meant AJ went off ,Milner shifted his position a bit and Yaya was released to become a threat further forward.
