I didn't like it at all..

Why? They've loved that banner for years and Mancini said when he came he wanted to tear it down, same as taggart said about Liverpool. Well their banner is now irrelevant and that 00 banner was a dig at them. Wouldn't want to see it again, but it told them to get lost quite nicely.

Only thing we needed to prove was to ourselves and we did that by both qualifying for the CL and winning the Cup. They can put up a sign that says, 'the square root of (4) = 2," for god sakes. That would make more sense.

What I find funny is that, even though they are 'supposed' to be the "bigger club", according to the media, they act like children when it comes to us. They spend more time looking at us and some way to mock us when I'm fairly confident, most us couldn't give a shit about them. Oh noes! Another banner! Big whoop dee doo. We won the trophy, we forced them to take down that which they caressed the most and everything else is just futile childish behaviour. I don't care if they put 50 banners up, it only just shows their childish attitude.

Many of their songs are insulting to other teams, their banners scoff & sneer at other teams. They still sing about Vieira because Arsenal with him in the team, were better than them & they hate it; it's not because he plays for us.

Most clubs have that kind of thing going on with their nearest neighbours but they have that going on with everyone who has ever challenged them. They hated Blackburn Rovers with a passion because they dared to challenge. Their big hatred is supposed to be for Liverpool but what about Arsenal & Chelsea when they challenged? Leeds anybody ?

Eventually we'll start to eclipse them, then the banners will no longer do the job & they will just escalate their women/children slapping behaviour. If you're a total cunt or school bully, they'll be the team you're most likely to support. It's what they are.

I am reading they unveiled a 19 titles in the Anfield Road, yesterday during YNWA, more front than Blackpool. Maybe a plane over Ragsville dropping 100 gallon of piss would be the answer.

i have a really simple perspective on this stuff...i really don't give a fucl what they do. I have a little back and forth between a couple friends who are Rags, but they are actually all really great blokes who know football well and are fun to talk with. No different than my friends who are Arse or Scouse or Baggies fans, etc really in that regard.

I'm sure it's different if you grew up Manc, but honestly in the US wearing a filth shirt basically says "i know fuckall about football and can't be arsed" and why do i have time for that? it's lame. and boring.

also, i hate Spurs, and Everton more than i hate the rags even. True story. Tin hat, etc.

that said, i am glad they will at least need to debate about getting rid of the banner...but i'm not obsessed with it. it's sort of like paying off a car loan, or something.

cheers

Stretford End Flags are up to something for Sunday

Here's what they posted on their website

The banner was good while it lasted. It was up there for over 10 years and I dont think any Utd fan could have envisaged it being there for that long, especially those who made "17 years" banners and took them on a Euro away all them years back.
It was inevitable that they would win somethning at some point in time, even Portsmouth have won the FA Cup in recent years, Birmingham with the Carling Cup and the likes of Middlesbrough and Bolton. Any red in the world all those years back would have grabbed the chance for Utd to win the 19th record title if it meant city won the fA Cup and just as Utd did in 1968, 1999 and now in 2011, we have overshadowed their day by achieving more ourself (Although how any city fan can even compare a 2nd divison play off win in '99 with Utds treble is beyond comparison).

Not in favour of doing a ticker style banner, as the concept will be remembered for the City ticker banner. In recent years the banner has become an obsession to City and their layers, with more of them more obsessed about the actual banner then they were about actually winning a cup.

The media focus will be on that gap on sunday, although last nights reserve game highlighted the gap. What people fail to remember, is that the banner has missed games before, even the Manchester derby game in Feb 2008. We have a small plan for Sunday which flaglady is working on, just something to have the last laugh and keep people guessing as to what will happen with the ticker.

Now we seek ideas for a new banner to go up there, something for the tier itself, rather than the actual small gap its created. So start getting thinking caps on, a thread for ideas already exists.
Something to mark our 19th title.

If the banner comes down, then we will decide what to do with it. the club museum is an option and the new National football Museum opens in Manchester late this year/early next year so that is also another option fo donating it to them.
The banner could also be sold off to raise money for SEF/Charity, although wouldnt want it in the hands of a City fan.

This gets me every fucking time, not one city fan I know has ever tried to compare the play off win with their treble, it's only ever rags that do it. The play off final was probably more significant to us as a club as we could have been up shit creek if we had to spend another year in div 2. It was hugely important to us, with completely different circumstances as their treble.

I know what you mean they seem to be obsessed with City. Some of my Rag mates were saying to me last week that Manchini was doing a sh8t job and that city were going nowhere. Which is complete b8llox as I know that they never watch City play.. so F8ck the lot of them and their banners!

We should put up a banner 19 league titles.....still no class!

Sorry, I wasn´t meaning to kick up any shit.....

I live in Tenerife and I´m hearing this chant from all the idiotic Manure fans even over here.....I am shocked they can´t even bear to say congrats or anything ! What´s their problem ????

I guess I should have said nothing, I thought this was a forum and I only posted in this thread because it was banner related and didn´t want to start a new thread just for that. Apologies Beeks, I will ask your permission before I post anything.
