The situation is this:
Third qualifying round (ten teams, top five seeded against bottom five)
POR - Benfica 78.919
UKR - Dynamo Kyiv 60.776
NED - Twente 41.025
BEL - Standard Liege 32.400 (Genk 8.400)
RUS - Rubin Kazan 31.941
------------------------------
GRE - AEK 30.833 (PAOK 17.333, Panathinaikos 57.833, Volos 6.833)
SUI - Zurich 18.980 (Basel 39.980)
DEN - Odense 18.610 (Brondby 10.110, Midtjylland 6.110)
TUR - Trabzonspor 12.010 (Fenerbahçe 50.510)
ROM - Timosoara 10.664 (Oţelul Galaţi 5.164, Vaslui 10.164)

Fourth qualifying round (five winners from round three plus these five)
GER - Bayern 118.887
FRA - Lyon 92.735 (PSG 51.735, Marseille 68.735, Rennes 16.735)
ESP - Villarreal 75.408 (Valencia 85.408)
ENG - Man City 47.157 (Arsenal 108.157)
ITA - Udinese 27.110 (Lazio 23.110)

In summary and quite simply, as it stands, if we were to finish fourth, we would need either Benfica or Kiev to be knocked out in the third qualifying round. If they were to both go through, it would mean we would have to qualify against either one of them or Bayern, Lyon or Villareal (again, as it stands)

If you ask me, that's fucking dodgy because they try to squeeze all the golden cows in the actual competition but will work for us if we can't guarantee.

Wrong forum, i dont think there are many arsenal fans on here.

Start again NQDP, and be honest this time. May I suggest the title 'I haven't got a fucking clue what happens regarding champs league qualifying, can anyone help?'

I think that's fair and this was bit of epic fail. I honestly wen't through that coefficient board Slim showed but was under impression it hadn't been updated for this season which would've left that 3 point season away and got us something like 16 points for this season. Obviously I was wrong as pointed out.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

But it could be a lot worse if Panathanaikos and Fenebahce overtake the current runners up, or better if Rennes do.

It could happen, but I'm not counting on it. Fenerbahçe would have to drop a place though, this is the league table going into the last game of the season next week:

1 Fenerbahçe +42 73 (CL Group Stage)
2 Trabzonspor +39 73 (CL 3rd Qualifying Round)

The greek league has a system where teams placed 2nd to 5th play off the european places among themselves.

It's not looking good for Panathinaikos, yet still possible.
