Which new signings?????

Postby Ruthless » Sat May 21, 2011 12:30 pm

Mr Mancini has said he wants 4 new players for next season, I think this is about right, anymore and we're back to the "gelling" problem again assuming Carlos stays which 4 players would you like to see us sign and be realistic eh we'd all like Messi but its not gonna happen.

My choices would be

1. Romalu Lukaku
2. Alex Sanchez
3. Cesc Fabregas
4. Thomas Vermaelen

I believe this would give us more pace and creativity options as well as being young and very talented so will probably get better and better and I also believe we need another central defender, pre injury Vermaelen for me was outstanding and everyone at Arse is buyable with the right offer. Depending who we ship out it maybe necessary to back fill some squad places eg cover for Joe if Given goes

1. Lukaku
2. Sanchez
3. Eto'o/Ibra

There are two names which have cropped up so much from every angle, that it's difficult to imagine we're not truly chasing them & that's Sanchez & Baines.

Sneijder is an obvious player we would want but would he come to us if the rags also want him & will Inter sell anyhow unless Tevez goes the other way? Bob has admitted being interested in Pastore so we may try for him if Sneijder is unavailable but how would he fit in?

We were strongly linked with Lukaku in Jan so in theory we could bring him in as 4th striker, to replace Jo.

Imo we need a wide player who actually delivers crosses. That's not Sanchez he's more of a dribble & shoot merchant. Bob said he wants crosses for Dzeko. Baines will provide that but imo, if he expects Sanchez to do that, he's either planning on changing him or hasn't done his homework. If Bob is on the ball with this, he may go for an Ashley Young or similar (even though rags have been made favourites). 2 seasons ago his delivery was superb, so he can do it & he fits with Milner & Barry.

I think most of our signings will be brought in to help the attack, even any defenders we sign will be with a view to doing the job so woefully attempted by Kolarov & Boateng.

A mate of mine is a massive wigan fan n apparently N'Zogbia is a real pain in the arse n causes problems behind the scenes bein a stroppy cunt, I also seem to remember him goin on strike or threatening to at Newcastle, no room for attitudes like that a City plus a think he's a couple of levels below what we're aiming for

Juan Mata or Sneijder,
Ashley Young or Sanchez
and if Tevez goes a scoring machine.
a left back - Baines
a backup defender - Samba or a Dunnie type.

I think Kolarov will come good next season i cant help thinking he has been struggling with the bad injury he had all season and has prob only been 80% fit most of the time, for me Baines is no better and isn't the answer i've seen him turned inside out a few times this season. Clichy would be my preferred option in that position. Boeteng I agree has been a huge disappointment but who knows. Pastore??? Not seen much of him but on paper, Argie ...tick Young.... tick Creative / attacking midfielder.... tick fits the bill good alternative to Fabregas who is my preferred choice

He fell out with Caroll over a training ground tackle, and refused to play for Newcastle when Kinnear got his name wrong in an interview. I think 'highly strung' would be a good phrase to describe him.

I haven't watched this season more than 2 games that Bolton played, but i've heard good things about Gary Cahill. And this spring were rumors that he is on City's list.
Is the lad city material?

Stories of Sneijer excite me but sadly it seems his heart is set on joining the rags.

I'm pleased a lot of folk on here are talking about Lukaku - he looks absolute quality and looks like he could terrify defenders.

Alex Sanchez looks superb as does Pastore who I think is the more likely of the two.

For me this is the perfect opportunity to have a good clear out of the dross. I know there's talk of a reduction in kitty but now that we've qualified (well, nearly) the Sheikh will surely see the light and invest in depth and pepper the books with a number of world class additions too.

The one thing that I hope we do is do our transfer business early - give the team more time to acclimatise and gel.

Agree with the sentiment, but it is hardly like signing Rooney. We would win more with him in the team than without, alas I fear the story is bollocks even though it is being talked about as almost a fact in some of the media

Thomas Vermaelen??............ Bloody hell....

If Tevez stays:

Sanchez
Capdevila (Not sure Kolarov is up to it)
Sneijder
Zapata/Subotic

If Tevez leaves then we need another forward, fuck knows who, Tevez is unique.

Vermaelen is a good solid defender in the vidic mould and he scores goals. Arse were solid till he got injured n top of the league plus he plays with vinny at international level, and proven premiership quality, worth signing for me, i dont think Kolo will play for us again

regarding Tevez yes he is unique but looking at Lukaku he looks like a young Didier Drogba, I would sign him anyway and as replacement for Tevez how about Kun Aguero? Getting better and better every year and his goal tally is consistantly increasing.

Mario will come good no doubt about it, Bobby bought Dzeko at xmas to give him time to settle for next season he will be a powerhouse, Aguero speed and skill plus Lukaku as a very talented promising young talent

I don't see Vermaelen as solid or Arse as solid at any time personally. He's good on the ball & lethal at set pieces but as a defender, I just don't like him at all.

Re Kolarov; I was suggesting a few weeks back that his lack of pace could be down to that injury but we have no proof of that, it's just an idea. Whereas it's true that Baines isn't fantastic defensively, his delivery of the ball into the box is better than anyone at our club imo & I think Bob wants that from his fullbacks, whatever we say; it's a big part of his plan. Kolarov may improve but we need a replacement in case he remains totally shite. Zabba is a right sided player filling in at left back.
