I have serious reservations about his defensive ability, first and foremost that is his job, i think we should look elsewhere as overall he is no better than what we have got or maybe a slight but only slight improvement

Baines couldn't lace his boots.

Baines has a lovely left foot and is a real threat going forward but defensively he isn't a patch on Evra or Cole. That's why we need to target Capdevila. Outstanding defensively and offers enough in the others teams half.

He hasn't started a single La Liga game this season apparently. [Edit - never mind, I'm probably looking at the wrong one, I doubt we would be interested in a 33 year old]

World Cup winner with Spain, plays for villarreal.

Getting on (33) but top class, fit as fook, and would give us time to search for someone top drawer, long term.

Not sure about that. With the FFP rules coming and if we're prone to spending £18Mil on the likes of Kolarov then we may need the odd short term fix.

The Vieria signing was met with all sorts of negative reaction but in the end he turned out to be a valuable acquisition. We need to keep an open mind and having failed (IMO) to find a proper left back, and having spent £18Mil in the process, then maybe a short term fix is just what we need.

I don't think Evra or Cole have been better than Baines this season. Two seasons ago fair enough, no contest but almost every half decent player who's gone at either of them has turned them inside out this season imo. Both have looked a yard slower.

Agreed,i saw freddie Sears terrorise Cole a few weeks back, both him and Evra are on the decline.

Baines or preferably Coentrao for me.

In the 2nd part of the Bolton preview, Bob suggests that he has had a different answer from Khaldoon regarding how many players we will be able to sign but also, interestingly, mentions signing young players too; who can go in the reseves & improve during the course of the season, to challenge for a 1st team place. He flatly states that our young players aren't good enough.

This may mean that some of the other names which have cropped up in addition to Lukaku, could be on the agenda.

Don't agree, but fair play.

I'll not be upset if we sign Baines but I'll not be happy either, especially as he's likely to cost upwards of £15Mil and we be on 'Prem Wages' +£90kpw.

We need to start watching our pennies and this is one player we shouldn't be spending £15Mil+ and £90kpw on, IMO.

Romelu has a younger brother,Jordan(16),a left back by coincidence, who is ridiculously good.He has everything - pace,mobility/agility,strength,awareness,braveness and excellent crossing ability.
I really hope he is on the radar.

Eto'o and Rossi for goals,
Mata to help Silva and Chiellini to sort out the back.
Oh and Tranny cos we can afford it.

Have you seen much of Chiellini lately? Serious question.

I see his name trotted out every window and I can't help but think that those putting his name forward don't watch Italian football.

Mainly going on his rep your right I don't watch Italian footy that much. The few times I have seen him though he has been ok.Good from corners.
With him being Italian though I think that would be a big positive with Bobby.

Sort the back out? We had one of the best defenses in the league!

Maybe a left back, but no need to medal there.

Something extra on the wing, and cover in centre mid.

Lets be honest, we are close to the finished article, now that we know how to win things, its just tweaking thats needed.

If Tevez stays I think we will only sign a max of 3 players.

Someone who can play on the wing and is two footed. Ashley Young would be my shout.

Someone who can play centrally in midfield who is attack minded. Wesley Sneijder would be immense but I think someone like Pastore is a good shout.

A defender who can cover the left side. Perhaps Baines. If kolo is unavailable we may go for a Chiellini who is left footed and can play left back.

If bellamy's still on your books, we'll have a 12 month loan, please.

Feel free to pay his wages, of course.

Lukaku FM Legend. Kompany was one as well. Dunno if I want him here, havent even seen a youtube vid !

If Tevez goes, we will easily loose a years progress. Balo is shit hot, but he needs to deliver. Dzeko will be found out im afraid, and shipped out (He's decent but I really dont see a great player in him).

Sorry walmai, apparently there is a cutprice deal happening in order to get his wages off the books.
