Who is our best crosser of the ball?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Who is our best crosser of the ball?

Postby Fesan » Mon May 23, 2011 4:32 pm

Honestly, cannot remember seing ONE cross this season being even close to the quality of Boyatas cross to Barry. And if I am not mistaking he had one or two just as good crosses in the match that noone got at the end of aswell.

Is Boyata of all people the best crosser of the ball at our club? Anyone seen him in EDS games that can talk about his crossing abilities?

Micah has been great at rightback this season and is a goalthreat but to be honest I put more emphasis on crossing from our RB, especially under this Manicin system and if we plan to have Dzeko up top.

*editet to clarify my point*

i have no idea - the players are not allowed to cross, so boyata was obviously freestyling somewhat.

but are you seriously suggesting boyata in for richards next season????

One good cross = best crosser of the ball. Get real.

That would mean Boateng wouldnt it because of the cross in the pre season friendly or SWP after the cross to Adebayor v Arsenal.Lets decide after a season's worth of crossing shall we and not one isolated event.

No need to take it personal, am I the only one who can read the questionmark in the title?

I also seem to recall asking of someone who has seen him play more if he is a good crosser, something one could think suggests I am trying to find out if he is good or not and NOT basing anything on that one cross.

All I stated was that I cannot remember seeing a better cross this season. Forgive me father for I have sinned (apparently).

I cannot find an answer there, all I can see is a sharp tone and examples of other people who had one good cross. A season has passed and I was curious to whom people think are the best crossers and if Boyata is any good. I kind of don't think Doug think Boateng or SWP is the one.

oh, sorry. the answer was "belt up", you jebward.

allow me to elaborate, boyata hasn't played all that much - so, to allude to the fact that he (may possibly be) the best crosser of the ball at our club, based on (basically) one cross, is simply r"e"diculous.

swp has accidentally provided far better crosses, but hasn't managed to get gareth barry to fuck it up so right royally yet.

Apparently I should have put EDS in 30 font size so people noticed how I was asking about his performance during the ENTIRE season and not this one cross. I realise there are alot of idiots out there but going out of your way to make people idiots is kind of unnecessary.

sorry, i thought your question was is boyata "our best crosser of the ball"?

no need for the insults, although i'm proud of "jebward". it's a cross between "jeb-end" and "jedward". although, if you have to explain it...

I have no idea how this could get missinturpeted but here is what my question was:

Has Boyata shown good delivery in the EDS? Who does peoplw think is our best crosser?

that's alright love - it was your implication that he should replace micah as our RB despite (by your own admission) not having seen him play much that brought my attention x

still, that WAS a lovely cross.

He is nowhere near Micah, my only point was that if they were equall in all aspects, except Micah was a goalthreat and Boyata had great delivery I think our formation is better suited with a good cross.

However if Micah really got his cross going...:-P

wasn't it Micah who crossed for Dzeko v Notts? He can deliver a decent ball on his day.

sorry again - but "if I am not mistaking he had one or two just as good crosses in the match that noone got at the end of aswell", - doesn't that mean that the crosses were rubbish if they were to no-one?

also - regarding the comparison with micah - didn't you say "Micah has been great at rightback this season and is a goalthreat but to be honest I'd rather have a back that can cross".

so, would you rather have micah or boyata at RB next season?

Riight, forgot that cross:-) lets hope he'll get better over the summer and really become the best RB in the league next season. With dzeko the backs can really blossom!

Look, there has been a theme going as of late that we need better service, especially when we got Dzeko up top. I saw that cross and thought to myself, hm.. can't remember last time we had such a great cross. So I came here to have a friendly discussion about what other players have shown promise in that department this season and to check if anyone had noticed Boyata being a good crosser during the EDS season.

When I layed out my preferences about the RB spot I specifically did not say I'd rather have Boyata over Micah as Mr Trampoline has had a GREAT season and might have been the best RB in the prem. All I was saying was that I think our formation needs good delivery from backs and IF we had two RB's (forget names, this is hypothetical) IDENTICAL except one had a few goals in him and was good at going at goal and the other was a good crosser I think our formation is better suited with a good crosser.

As far as your second question I am not totally sure what you mean but IMO alot of crosses from the sides are just put into the box where they think people are (my guess is crossers think "ok, aiming at far post" or "aiming at near post" and throw em in with as much speed and curve as they can. So IMO good crosses that hit the right area with the right height are still good crosses.

Cannot see how Micah should not be our RB next season, as people have reminded me (half the point of this thread, to find out who has delivered good crosses this season) he has had some good crosses. I hope he can develop that part of his game this summer.

Would also be great to have a RB coming through our ranks with a great delivery in him, maybe then we can mix and match depending on the striker we are playing with a crosser playing with Dzeko and one good at going at goal playing with Tevez or another Striker who likes to drop deep and play others through.

fesan - i struggled with that tbh - if english isn't your first language then i apologise.

i was only trying to point out that micah is CURRENTLY a full shithead of a measure above boyata in the RB stakes.

easy now.
