Bosnians for City

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Bosnians for City

Postby Sheikhermaker » Wed May 25, 2011 12:58 am

Read a post asking for a Bosnian topic from, well, a Bosnian.

It'd be quite interesting to read Bosnian views about City, especially as they aren't subjected to the rag media like we in the UK.

So what was the coverage like out there when Dzeko didn't play for a few games? Obviously more to come from him, how would you play him? Who would you sign for City who could provide the opportunities? Lets hear it Bosnia.

I'd just want to point out that language on this site is English. Other than occasional comment, we don't want people to type long posts in other languages.

Continue and I'll be very interested to hear what Bosnian Blues think as well. Not only about Dzeko though.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I think Palus mainly wanted to be upgraded so he could start his own topics.

On the language thing, there's Man City Serbia (http://mancity-serbia.webnode.com/), which doesn't have a forum, unfortunately (although I thought it used to). Also, there's countless forum topics on Sarajevo X, but a lot of these get hijacked by rags and the like.

I think it's only Palus and Zeljo who are Bosnian on here (although there's three or four other Yugoslavs). I don't really want this place to become overrun with kids, though, who perhaps have a different kind of forum etiquette. They should stick to Sarajevo-X.

Just wanted to add that I didn't want to come through as a cunt with the language thing. The more the merrier. It's just general rule for EVERYONE so that we can moderate this site and know what's been written. And I certainly wasn't questioning anyone's language skills.

What I wanted to state is that I agree with you about the general rule.

On the other hand, the situation in Serbia is pretty much the same as the rest of the world in terms of scum bias. Journos just copy stuff from the brits, and most of people tend to be rags fans...

I get a lot of abuse from my rag friends, if I can call them that), but I just tell them to fuck off and try to concentrate on OUR TEAM and the next glorious season.

We have an excellent tv coverage (every city game this season, PL, FAC, Carling and EuropaLeague, was televised), I have missed only 3 games this season due to intercourse.

On the down size, every motherfucking comentator is a fuckin rag!

@blueinbosnia

that website is now relocated to http://www.mcfc-serbia.net/ and it looks pretty damn good.

There should be a rule for all non-Anglophone posters that they bring their own quirky little English(ish) catchphrase.

Have a think about it, mates.

I have noticed in the article comments on Swedish online newspapers that there seem to be a lot of new, Swedish City fans. But most of them seem to be Bosnian immigrants (or second generation Bosnian immigrants) who are actually more Dzeko fans than City fans. He's really big down there, isn't he?

The rest of the Swedes are just as bitter and arrogant as fans in the UK - at least if you look at the a little bit younger crowd who all support Arse, Liverpool or scum. Older fans mostly cheer for Tottenham, Nottingham Forrest, Villa, Stoke, Leds, etc. and tend to be alright.

He's the first big-name Bosnian player to play in the Premiership - the most-watched league amongst younger people - so there's going to be a lot of support switching to City. Also, older fans without a 'real' team to support (ie just general football fans) will become City fans, and pretty much every City game will now be shown on national TV (as was the case with Wolfsburg when Dzeko and Misimovic were there). Therefore, over the next couple of seasons, virtually everyone aged maybe 14-17 will become a City fan.

Nool- what's the affinity for Ibrahimovic amongst Bosnian diaspora in Sweden? I'd have thought that there'd have been some massive PR drive to promote him as a prime example of integration to the ex-Yugoslav community.

Do you have something to do with the running of the site?

I'm going to try and get to Novi Sad, probably for the first match vs Spurs of the season (depending on the fixture list) to meet up with a Spurs-supporting mate, if you fancy a bit of Yid-baiting...

Also, you mentioned the proliferation of knock-off City shirts in Sarajevo bascarsija. What kind of quality are they? I'm tempted by the new away, but don't want to pay 40 quid plus if I can get a decent replica for 15KM.

I don't really meet that much Bosnians anymore, since moving abroad, so I wouldn't really know. I reckon there's quite a lot of pride within the Bosnian and Croat communities, though (mum's Croat). I don't think anyone uses him as a flagship for integration, though. If it wasn't for football, he'd probably not be any different that any other Balkan kid from one of the bad big city suburbs.
