Newcastle not going to renew his contract, so much for being the best english midfeilder in the prem.......

NO THANKS JOEY............

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 16,00.html

Skysports.com understands Newcastle will not be offering star midfielder Joey Barton a new contract at St James' Park.

Barton is entering the final 12 months of his contract at Newcastle this summer and the club were thought to be keen on agreeing an extension with the midfield dynamo.

However, after talks with the player's representatives Newcastle have decided not to offer a new deal to Barton and will allow the former Manchester City man to see out his current contract.

Barton's agent, Willie McKay, has confirmed Newcastle have decided not to offer the 28-year-old a new deal after holding talks with club officials over his future.

"I had a meeting with Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias and club secretary Lee Charnley and they have indicated Joey will not be offered a new contract," McKay told skysports.com.

"Joey will continue to be a Newcastle player next season and then he will leave on a free transfer at the end of his contract.

"Joey would have loved to have extended his stay at Newcastle, but unfortunately it is not to be.

"Joey has loved his time at Newcastle and nothing will change his commitment for the club next season.

"Obviously we will be monitoring the situation next January to try and find a new club for Joey as he can speak to clubs from abroad in January."

The news comes as a major surprise as Barton has been Newcastle's stand-out performer this season with a number of eye-catching displays and he was named the fans' player of the season this term.

News of Barton's availability is sure to alert a number of clubs at home and abroad with the likes of Hamburg and Olympiakos thought to be keeping tabs on his situation.

Liverpool and Aston Villa are also thought to be keen on Barton and news of his contract situation could see them step up their interest in the player this summer.

Willie McKay is still an agent? Thought that guy would have a bullet in his head and burried in a forest somewhere by now.

Good luck to Joey.

When we sold him (£6m - best transfer dealing from the club ever) I seem to recall he signed a huge contract which was over £65,000 a week plus a £300,000 loyalty payment or something.

I bet he wouldn't get over £25,000 a week any where these days but his agent will be looking for it no doubt over the next 12 months.

Its a win win for Joey providing he continues where he left off last season.......free transfer equals plenty of $$$$$$$$$$

Yeah, he's on huge money. Times are tighter now and I can see why Newcastle wouldn't be too interested in signing another long and expensive contract, especially with the way he's likely to have been negotiating.

I'm sure there will be tons of interest from "clubs abroad" like Rangers and Celtic.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Barton should get rid of the cunt like city did with there players.

Why would he get rid of his agent? Barton is in a win-win situation and his agent will exploit that on his behalf. Newcastle can either award him a new hefty contract, or he leaves on a free transfer next summer and gets a big signing-on fee, plus a good salary.

The top clubs won't be after him, but if he keeps up his form of the season just gone I'm sure quite a few clubs will be interested.

He'll always be a tosser though...

He thinks he's the best in England and would no doubt want a wage to match. As for McKay.....

Unbelievable. He has been absolutely class on the pitch for them, they've got £35m from Andy Carroll ffs. Barton will walk into Villa, Spurs, Everton (if all has been forgiven) and improve them. He is a highly intelligent (on the pitch) footballer and you rarely see him waste the ball. Newcastle would be setting themselves back, and in terms of the player I'd love to see him back here, but in terms of the man, too much has happened.

got to agree with you...he's been outstanding. he hated losing so much that it's 50% of what drove him apeshit. the other 50% was [strike]scouse retard genetics[/strike] poor familial and environmental issues.

this team is so different..no way Joey could fuck the dressing room up, is there? hello...anyone? anyone? Bueller?

he's a tit, but he could do some damage. better than scott parker. you know it's true. fucl off.

cheers

After the club stood by him through wave after wave of endless shitstorms of his own making, he treated us like a prison bitch(which he would have experience in). Even if he paid to play for City, I'd still not want him within 1000 miles of Eastlands.

What is not stated is how much his agent was seeking from Newcastle as salary - therein lies the reason a contract has not been offered

Exactly. The way this is being reported you're lead to believe they've 'snubbed' him. He's been offered a deal and is being a greedy cunt. It's very straight forward and those questioning newcastle and calling the decision 'madness' are being very naive.

I was shocked at the way SSN reported this, talk about twisting a story.....it seems 'player snubs club' wasn't quite tasty enough so they turned it round and people have bought it
