What an honour it must have been for all those player who had to stand next to the likes of G. Neville, Glen Johnson, Peter Crouch, Emile Heskey, Michael Ricketts, Danny Mills, P. Neville, Nicky Butt, Francis Jeffers, David Nugent, Seth Johnson, David Unsworth, Scott Carson, etc.

Lets face it, getting a call up for the full England squad has become a joke.

Is it fuck. It's an absolute honor to represent your country. Imagine playing in a World Cup. Yeah no big deal is it.

A World Cup that is being ran by Fifa, not corrupt at all. I'd much rather pull on a blue City shirt for a few years longer because I haven't played as many internationals.
If I was a professional footballer I'd choose not to represent my country from the off. Just personal preference I guess.

Can't believe the garbage on here sometimes. Players grow up dreaming of winning the World Cup. It's football's biggest and most prestigious competition. It's an honor of the highest level in football to actually represent your country and play in a major tournament. It really is, representing your country tops anything else.

No one has a G-d given right to be selected and maybe it is harsh on Richards but It should motivate him to play even better.

Of course people don't have the god given right (I honestly don't know what that really means) to be in the national team. But Micah sure as hell should be in there, no excuses.

Possibly so but playing for your country in the world cup tops anything else. Do you think Tevez wandered round the streets of Argentina as a child dreaming of playing for City? Do you think Silva as a child was hoping to play for Manchester City? it's a job to them. Pulling on your country's shirt is what players dream of doing.

Given the specific circumstance, its right for Micah to pull out.

He already has tournament under 21 experience right? Brilliant season, but lots of injuries especially towards the end.

He, along with our other great players, need a full summer off, there was a world cup last summer, this summer is all about a big long well deserved rest, mentally and physical. Then we will have a fully fit and fresh squad for the next huge season.

There's a squad named on wiki (usual wiki caution needed using it as a source), it seems accurate though, they have Micah shown as injured awaiting replacement: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England_na ... rent_squad
VIVA EL CITIES

"The adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee ... has banned Mr Joseph S. Blatter ... for eight years and Mr Michel Platini ... for eight years from all football-related activities (administrative, sports or any other) on a national and international level. The bans come into force immediately." - 21/12/2015

Funny that I automatically thought he was pulling out of the National Team and not the U-21.
Irregardless of what the critics think of him, he has overcome any shortcomings I had of him.
But, yes, his overall fitness level has become an issue. Micah is so hyper-athletic and well-toned,
that any small injury inhibits him.

They should call them "Born before <insert date> Euro/World Cup" then.

OR

"Under 21 when the qualifiers started Euro/World Cup" for the dimwitted among us.
