Sky sources are telling us this and also that he would relish the chance to manage Villa

Could be tasty if they come back up and he is at Villa.

Why would it be bad? Ron Saunders won the title at Vile in 81 then fucked off to Blues if memory serves.

Apparently he resigned via email as well! What next, sending a tweet?

Don't think he's good enough to manage Villa. If Villa fans were unpaitent with Houllier I can see the same happening with Fergies minion. Birmingham were dreadful to watch under him.

I see it as just another rag manager quitting when the going gets touch: Robson, Bruce (x5), Keane, Coppell and co

Can't see villa fans being too happy.

He's resigned by email. That's classy

Being born in 82 my memory doesn't go back to 81. i just think its bad to do that.

maybe i only see it as a fan and therefore i am blinkered but i would be pissed if Bobby manc wandered off down to trafford

I understand where your coming from Goat, however nothing should surprise you in this game anymore. Saunders actually went in mid-season after getting Vile to the EC QF's. The Blues fans I know hated Mcleish and were sick and tired with his obsession with bringing in Jockanese players.

To the best of my knowledge he signed McFadden and Ferguson, both were good signings. Two players in three season is hardly an obsession

Birmingham are a yo yo club. He took them ah highest ever finish and won them a trophy. He has done a good job their and I dont think he liked what was going on behind the scenes there.

He has done a pretty good job everywhere he has been. I think he would continue that good work at Villa.

Did he sign Gary O'Connor or was that Bruce?

I think that was Bruce. I might be wrong. Either way he was a decent player in the Championship and highly rated at the time he went to Brum.

Got arrested with cocaine on him the other week.

I wouldn't be surprised if he left as most of his top players are gonna be sold.

i guess i, like others i'm sure, kinda think the captain that took the ship down ought to show some allegiance to bring it back up again, but maybe that's too old-fashioned.

To counterbalance that line of thinking tho, i don't think McLeish did a poor job with that team...and i cannot understand why this allegedly wadded owner won't open up the wallet and spend some money. Why buy a team to wallow in mediocrity if yr supposedly a billionaire? makes no sense to me. Have i read their new owner wrong or are you with me?

cheers

That's my view as well. Similar to the new owners of KFC if what you read is correct. These guys are absolutely minted yet they seem very reluctant to put their hands in their pocket.

I agree with this. McFadden and Ferguson both did well for them and in latter case McLeish resurrected his career.

McLeish did really really well to take them up and keep them up last year and win league cup (which is amazing really considering the gap these days between top clubs and rest).

He is bit methodical and I don't think he will ever be top 4 good but I do think he'll make excellent manager for someone like Villa and have them back challenging for spot in top 6.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
