Boateng vs Onuah

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Nedum is a far better player than most on here are giving him credit for, and for my money as good if not a better bet than we have seen from Boateng as far as playing for the team goes.

I certainly would lose no sleep if we keep him, being confident he would give 100% on the pitch, with his best years still to come.

As long as Boateng wants to leave then that will be the case. As well as Nedum is a great option as he's considered as a home grown player, which will be a better option to have at your squad at the end of the day.

It's Neddy for me too.
I too think he is a better player than many give him credit for.
With Joleon, Vince and Kolo as the main three men, an English understudy who is more than capable is ideal. He would have to be prepared to be a bit part player though. A big name signing will be wanting regular starts and the centre half pairing looks fine as it is. Boateng has looked poor so far, but maybe he will get better in his second season.
Financial fair play and home grown quotas are important to consider.

Wait, so Bayern will pay him to play on our reserves team? Brilliant business Boateng. Maybe we should move him to the board of directors?

Fucking tool, I hope City fines him for even holding talks with another team if this were indeed true. (wait it is June, is anything true unless it is on the OS?)

Ned has had a very good season by all accounts, the Goal at Chelsea for the mackems in itself would for me give him another season, Micah has come on loads since his long run in the team Ned, is a young defender who with better players may just shine.

Agree with that. I seem to remember he was always in the top 5 defenders on Fantasy League last season before he got injured. Don't forget we will be playing in 4 competions next season and we need players with English experience to cope with the long season. He might not play in the CL games but what about early rounds of Carling & FA Cup matches against 2nd or 3rd tier teams. Would you want to risk Komp, Richards and Lescott in those types of matches ?

Boatenghas agreed four year deal with Bayern. That fucking Munich cunt Lahm says it's not about Boateng or Bayern but us. It's aal about fucking Bayern and if they are going to meet our valuation.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

should fine jermoan two weeks wages for slagging us off in the press, then tell bayern to pay up or go away. He's under contract, so he's going nowhere unless we let him

According to the club Boateng and Bayern haven't had permission to speak
to each other. If what Boateng says is true then surely an illegal approach has
been made.

I'm a bit disappointed about Boateng. When we first signed him I thought he'd be quality. Even towards the end of the season I was still hopeful that given another season he could find his feet. But for him to try and go back to Germany after one season I find it a bit gutless to be honest. He's probably on a decent wage, we've just won the FA Cup and finished 3rd in arguably the best league in the world. Very disappointed if he goes.

He has the chance to join one of the biggest clubs around & he'll have to fight for a place there too. I wouldn't call it gutless, but I'm disappointed with the way he handled the situation, comments in the media & all.

The club should stand its ground & not get mugged. I'm sure Bayern will cough up around 15m + bonuses eventually.

I just think he's shown the same kind of lack of bottle about the possibility of fighting his way into the team as he showed us when on the pitch (and pulling out of tackles, turning his back on balls etc).

I assume he's seen the form of Vincent and Joleon (and also the thought of Kolo returning and our pursuit of Cahill and knows he's not remotely in with a sniff at centre half). And he knows from painful experience this year that he doesn't look likely to cut it ever at full back in the PL and that's even without also considering the fact that he is no way going to get picked there in front of Micah and Zabba after the seasons they both had.

He was likely in the frame to replace Micah or Joleon when we signed him. It's a bit gutless that he's running off with his tail between his legs without seeing if he's up to the challenge but, pragmatically, I reckon we'd have been doing this at Xmas/next season in any event so I'd rather get rid now whilst he's still in demand and not viewed as a total flop.

That said, I echo points made above, let's not get dry bummed by the krauts on this

If he wants to go there is little clubs can do these days to stop them aside from throwing great wads of cash at the player and that only works for so long. However, I think he could have a future here, if we write off the first season as him settling in, he certainly has the athletic attributes to make it in this league. But he needs a lesson from Micah in how to turn himself around and while City have time on their hands with him, there are exceptions and there are rules. Micah is the former, most are the latter.
