Yes please, would have him here in a flash. Just had the best season of his career (53 appearances, 37 goals, 15 assists) and people are saying he's past it? He's the definition of a clinical finisher and no, i'm not upset he didn't want to join us when we were still shit (he went on to win 2 CL titles with Barca and Inter). Still fit as fuck and i reckon we could get 2 or 3 seasons out of him which is about what we'll get from Tevez (at best) anyway. We also can't have all our signings as ''young and promising'', they need to be balanced out with quality and experienced players (like Eto'o), something that Mancini has already hinted at in the past ("It is a strange competition (CL). We are a good team but maybe we need other players who have played in it and have experience."-Mancini).

Agreed. Too old and he can go fcuk himself if he now fancies a move, joining Huntelaar, Buffon and Van Persie in the same envelope.

From The Mail's Ian Ladyman on Twitter - a good insight into Eto'o and indeed how much the press were in cahoots with Hughes

I see samuel eto'o is at it again. So desperate to come to #mcfc two summers ago he spent a month sending begging texts to mark hughes

The hughes/eto'o anecdote is true. He messed city around when their interest was real, then started begging when his options narrowed

Eto'o was simply too late by time he decided he wanted to come to city. They had moved on to other players..adebayor, i think

30 GOALS down is a major blow to us. Tevez to Inter and Eto to us stick it where the sun don't shine. Without the silver plata service he had a at Barca he is way past scaring anyone, infact he is now a winger and a pain in the arse.

He's right Eto'o messed us around - he was using the interest from us to make himself more desirable/valuable to other Chump's League teams and put himself in a better negotiating position. He can fucl off if he thinks he can just waltz in here like nothing happened.

Eto'o scored 37 goals in all competitions last season, 8 in 11 in the Champions League and also contributed 15 assists. He's as good as Tevez imo and we'd be no weaker if he signed with Tevez joining Inter.

He doesn't need any "silver plata service" and didn't play on the wing last season.

I wouldn't. What do we do with the money and ageing slightly past his prime striker?

I WOULD consider Snejder+Eto'o IF Mancini felt he could get that working in England AND Tevez remains persistent about "moving closer to Argentina".
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

City are looking for value on big deals. If Eto'o was to come in place of someone we're struggling to get value for, eg Adebayor, I could imagine it happening, but Tevez is a big money asset for several more years. We won't let Tevez go unless we get big value for him. Sneijder AND Eto'o would be more in the ballpark, as we'd get 5 years out of Sneijder thus filling a position & we wouldn't need to spend any money on that position in the near future.

Ruled out by city.... I'm happy

Manchester City have categorically ruled out a second move for Inter Milan hitman Samuel Eto’o after he revealed he is ready to test himself in the Premier League.

The striker exasperated Blues officials two years ago – when he was at Barcelona – by dawdling over a staggering contract offer understood to be worth £180,000-a-week after tax.

City eventually got so sick of waiting for Eto’o to respond that chief executive Garry Cook made a public statement declaring that the club were pulling out of the deal.

Instead, the Cameroon international ended up moving to the San Siro, but has now declared that he would like a move to England.

“Playing in England is an idea I have had in my head for some time and now what matters to me is finding a good team,” he said.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea have also been linked with Eto’o, but City are not prepared to go back in for a player who messed them around so royally last time out.

Roberto Mancini is only looking to sign a top-line striker in the event that Carlos Tevez leaves Eastlands – and it looks increasingly likely that the Argentinian will stay.

Tevez has already rejected an offer from Juventus, while Real Madrid appear reluctant to make a move and Inter Milan – the other main contender for the striker’s signature – are in chaos with boss Leonardo looking set to quit for Paris Saint Germain after only six months at the San Siro.

Mancini has made it clear that he wants Tevez to stay and help the Blues continue the progress that saw them finish third in the Premier League and win the FA Cup, their first trophy since 1976.

The City boss is keen to bring Alexis Sanchez to Eastlands to strengthen his squad, and Blues officials are continuing to work on a deal which would see them pay Udinese £28m, with Slovakian winger Vladimir Weiss move in the opposite direction.

While Sanchez remains City’s top target, the club have ruled out making a move for Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric, who is wanted by United and Chelsea.

Bayern warning

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have been made aware that they will have to start talking serious money if they want to stand any chance of signing Jerome Boateng.

The defender has indicated that he wants to leave Eastlands and return to his native Germany after a tough first season following his £11m move from Hamburg.

His progress stalled after he suffered an early-season knee injury while on international duty, before falling behind Micah Richards and Pablo Zabaleta in the race for the right-back spot.

He then missed the run-in after suffering another knee injury.

But Mancini, who is keen to maintain and develop the depth of his squad ahead of a twin assault on the Premier League and Champions League, still sees Boateng as a key player.

The City manager’s view is that the German defender is still developing and, at 22, can improve considerably.

And the Blues will not even consider selling him on unless they can make a significant profit that can then be used to find a replacement – like Bolton’s Gary Cahill.

And Wanderers’ boss Owen Coyle has suggested for the first time that his England defender could be on his way out of the Reebok.

“I believe he could play for any club – I’d put my reputation on it,” said the Scot of Cahill, who is valued at around £15m.

“There’s been a lot of interest – and you don’t have to be a genius to work out some of the top clubs in this country have been interested – but nothing concrete yet.

“It would take a lot of money. It is up to those clubs to put something firm to the chairman.

“He is not a player we want to lose but we have to accept if it is the right deal for the club and the player it has to be done and that then frees up cash for us to invest in the club.

“I would love him to stay. He is a fantastic player for the club and I am not saying I want him to go, but if he does it will be the right business for the club.”
