If Tevez leaves it's no use cryng over spilt milk. Just get on with it.

30 GOALS down is a major blow to us. Tevez to Inter and Eto to us stick it where the sun don't shine. Without the silver plata service he had a at Barca he is way past scaring anyone, infact he is now a winger and a pain in the arse.

Eto'o scored 37 goals in all competitions last season, 8 in 11 in the Champions League and also contributed 15 assists. He's as good as Tevez imo and we'd be no weaker if he signed with Tevez joining Inter.

He doesn't need any "silver plata service" and didn't play on the wing last season.

get a copy of the Spurs game he was on the wing and a pile of poo.

Around 35 goals in the season ain't a bad result for a winger then. I would prefer Carlos staying but if he really has to go, thn a swap deal with Inter for Eto'o wouldn't be a bad way to fill the gap, at least until we can make sure the younger strikers who are coming up are the real deal.

I wouldn't. What do we do with the money and ageing slightly past his prime striker?

I WOULD consider Snejder+Eto'o IF Mancini felt he could get that working in England AND Tevez remains persistent about "moving closer to Argentina".

As a club, we need to be more prudent in transfers with half an eye on the financial fair play rules. If we lost tevez, with a player who can go some way to replacing him with enough finance to make a significant contribution to our summer spending, that would not be a bad deal. Obviously it's better if Carlos stays and the whole thing dies on its arse.

No. Have no idea whether he'd adapt to Premier League or not. And he's not going to be free.

Money spent on Tevez is already gone. That will not affect FFPR. Tevez is exceptional world top 10 player who guarantees us goals. We'd need to have similar player immediately in our radar if we are looking to sell Tevez. In fact, we are basically too deep in summer to find replacement for Tevez before start of the season. Therefore Eto'o and money for Carlos would be suicide deal for Mancini. He'd be backing his bags by christmas.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I agree with you on this; and that's why imho a deal including Eto'o is a good deal imho if we really have to let Carlos go. Eto'o is one of the few guaranteed strikers to get us the goals we would lose selling Carlos, because he's been one of the top two\three strikers in the world for years. It wouldn't be a transfer for the future but would fill the gap Carlos would leave for at least two seasons, enough time to assess the younger strikers on the up and decide who is really going to be the next big thing.

Yes he's slightly past his best. But this is the premiership we're talking about, he'd be the best striker in the league by a country mile. He'd absolutely run riot here. The question of whether he'd be a good signing doesn't even need to be asked.

Right ok, let's just a world class footballer of one bad game. I'm sure Carlos Tevez' performance at home v Blackpool this gone season also means he's a pile of poo.

Cookie says - "....Had yer chance, blew it....."

http://menmedia.co.uk/manchesterevening ... humbs-down

Manchester City have categorically ruled out a second move for Inter Milan hitman Samuel Eto’o after he revealed he is ready to test himself in the Premier League.

The striker exasperated Blues officials two years ago – when he was at Barcelona – by dawdling over a staggering contract offer understood to be worth £180,000-a-week after tax.

City eventually got so sick of waiting for Eto’o to respond that chief executive Garry Cook made a public statement declaring that the club were pulling out of the deal.

Instead, the Cameroon international ended up moving to the San Siro, but has now declared that he would like a move to England.

“Playing in England is an idea I have had in my head for some time and now what matters to me is finding a good team,” he said.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea have also been linked with Eto’o, but City are not prepared to go back in for a player who messed them around so royally last time out.

Roberto Mancini is only looking to sign a top-line striker in the event that Carlos Tevez leaves Eastlands – and it looks increasingly likely that the Argentinian will stay.

Tevez has already rejected an offer from Juventus, while Real Madrid appear reluctant to make a move and Inter Milan – the other main contender for the striker’s signature – are in chaos with boss Leonardo looking set to quit for Paris Saint Germain after only six months at the San Siro.

Mancini has made it clear that he wants Tevez to stay and help the Blues continue the progress that saw them finish third in the Premier League and win the FA Cup, their first trophy since 1976.

The City boss is keen to bring Alexis Sanchez to Eastlands to strengthen his squad, and Blues officials are continuing to work on a deal which would see them pay Udinese £28m, with Slovakian winger Vladimir Weiss move in the opposite direction.

While Sanchez remains City’s top target, the club have ruled out making a move for Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric, who is wanted by United and Chelsea.

Bayern warning

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have been made aware that they will have to start talking serious money if they want to stand any chance of signing Jerome Boateng.

The defender has indicated that he wants to leave Eastlands and return to his native Germany after a tough first season following his £11m move from Hamburg.

His progress stalled after he suffered an early-season knee injury while on international duty, before falling behind Micah Richards and Pablo Zabaleta in the race for the right-back spot.

He then missed the run-in after suffering another knee injury.

But Mancini, who is keen to maintain and develop the depth of his squad ahead of a twin assault on the Premier League and Champions League, still sees Boateng as a key player.

The City manager’s view is that the German defender is still developing and, at 22, can improve considerably.

And the Blues will not even consider selling him on unless they can make a significant profit that can then be used to find a replacement – like Bolton’s Gary Cahill.

And Wanderers’ boss Owen Coyle has suggested for the first time that his England defender could be on his way out of the Reebok.

“I believe he could play for any club – I’d put my reputation on it,” said the Scot of Cahill, who is valued at around £15m.

“There’s been a lot of interest – and you don’t have to be a genius to work out some of the top clubs in this country have been interested – but nothing concrete yet.

“It would take a lot of money. It is up to those clubs to put something firm to the chairman.

“He is not a player we want to lose but we have to accept if it is the right deal for the club and the player it has to be done and that then frees up cash for us to invest in the club.

“I would love him to stay. He is a fantastic player for the club and I am not saying I want him to go, but if he does it will be the right business for the club.
“I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly.”
