Replacement For Vieira?

Postby Niall Quinns Discopants » Sun Jul 03, 2011 9:55 am

Lucho Gonzalez, who I really really rate, having been linked with switch to Chelsea in Chinner's massive sunday bollox got me thinking. I think we need replacement for Vieira. I don't necesserily mean another defensive midfielder but experienced player who has winning pedigree and can be calming influence in young team both in dressing room and on pitch when needed.

I was gutted to see Pirlo go on free and we weren't involved. I think Lucho could be good option. Any others?
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

We don't really need a replacement for Vieira. We have plenty of players in our squad with vast experience. We already have Barry, Toure and Dejong who can play in that position. And even Milner, Zabaleta can play there at a push.

I suppose we could use someone who cleans the toilets. If he's good with toilet brush, in future he could advance into cleaning boots of Academy players.

Seedorf was the one I was after.

He could fill the 'experienced bloke who doesn't play all that often' role.

I did. We have plenty of players with a 'winning pedigree'.

Pirlo would of been a terrible signing. Old, slow and way past his peak, not a chance he would of adapted to the ferociousness of the PL.

Seedorf has too much self respect to sit on the bench all year. He wouldn't do it, sadly.

I said Seedorf about 6 months ago when I watched him play, he is ancient, but could do a Vieira for a season or 2. He wouldnt be able to play regularly in the Premier League anyway. Still got huge quality.
