Should have been Suarez,a perfect replacement.Aguero is the obvious candidate now, with Cavani and maybe Falcao following.

In my personal opinion we can't let Tevez go before summer 2012 now. Simply can't. We don't have time to find similar quality replacement this summer anymore. These transfers usually take time and should have been in process months ago.

Out of the players mentioned, only Aguero is someone who can play in similar level and do similar things for us.

Generally, we are royally screwed here. We can forget all the talk about title challenge right the moment Tevez leaves. Letting him go would practically be Manchester City suicide for Mancini as well.

Let's just hope this is another crap made up story.

12 months ago but not now. He didn't play in the semi.

You just know it's going to be Ibrahimovic though.

No, I absolutely think that way. Tevez is such essentially player for us in so many ways. I mean, he can hold the ball which eases the pressure on defense. He can win balls from defenders, which creates constant pressure and goal scoring opportunities galore. He can take a mean free kick. Oh and last but not least, he can create goals out of nowhere. The last bit is almost irreplacable.

As you can see, I don't just worry about missing his goals. Losing his overall contribution will be MASSIVE blow for us especially this late in summer. And yes, I think that's out of title race right there and expectations are sky high + there's still people who are not quite sure about Mancini despite the FA Cup win and getting us to Champion's League = huge pressure on him and he'll probably be sacked in christmas.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I'm now shitting, thinking Mancini's words about Eto'o. WTF? Surely he can't think Eto'o would be the solution?

Swap Tevez for Snejder and buy Aguero and we are back on track. Can't see that happening this summer anymore though but if we are selling Tevez and still plan to mount title challenge then it's time for Marwood to earn his wages.

Time to take a deep breath, calm down, and wait to see what ACTUALLY transpires methinks.

Tevez is and has been a known problem waiting to happen. Him saying he wants to go should have hardly come as a surprise to you all?

Aguero seems the natural choice to me. Villa would be great as well

Paper talk or not, we really can't have Tevez's fragile temperament hanging over the club like this. One minute he's "definitely staying", the next he's determined to leave. At the moment, the latter is apparently the case - again. It must be Mancini's priority to bring in a first rate striker, if not as a replacement for Tevez, then at least to bolster the squad for next season.

Tevez aside, it's pre-season training this week, and so far we've got a new full back.

Give him to Barca. They give us Villa, £20Mil and leave a clear path for us to sign Sanchez.

I have an awful feeling that Ibrahimovic will come in to the reckoning.

Re: Tevez's Replacement?

There was a list of players Mancini was quoting as "fancying" in one of the broadsheets a few days ago, I can't recall the source but there were perhaps four he was keen on and one he described as "less so", I think. None, as I recall, were particularly stellar, household names, and all were plying their trade in Serie A, which is hardly fertile ground when it comes to Premier League success.

Here's something along the lines of what I read, from a quick Google:

Napoli could be the main focus of Mancini’s transfer radar, as the Partenopei hold three stars that the former Sampdoria star is intrigued in. Strikers Ezequiel Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani scored a combined 32 goals between them, Cavani scoring 26, and they are joined on City’s wishlist by playmaker Marek Hamsik. Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis has moved swiftly to try and dismiss any sort of moves for the three players, but City’s ambitions and finances dwarf Napoli’s dramatically and the best Napoli can offer is the Europa League this season.

Mancini has revealed that he holds less interest in Palermo’s Javier Pastore, which could possibly fall down to the price tag and the eccentricities of Palermo president Mauro Zamaparini. The former Inter boss has shown interest in defender Pablo Armero and versatile defender/midfielder Mauricio Isla from Udinese. A deal for the Colomnbian defender Armero could be stalled by the suggested £7m, four year transfer of Arsenal left back Gael Clichy, but a move for Isla would strengthen the City squad and provide significant battle qualities along with Nigel De Jong in the Citizens midfield.

Now, I'm sure that there are many fantastic players in Serie A, but the manager of a top European club (which I like to think is roughly what City are, or what we aspire to be) needs to be casting his net further afield, and have a wider knowledge of football than just the league he was a manager in two years ago. Mancini's signings have been patchy at best, and the names I'm hearing connected to City now hardly fill me with excitement - or confidence.

I agree with what a few others have said, that we could and should have a few significant signings at an advanced stage of negotiation now, but if City are going to surprise us with a fantastic new signing or three then they've kept it very well guarded from a media which jumps on the slightest hint.

FFP or not, we are dallying at our peril.

Yeah, I'm probably panicking, but with the American training camp and tour imminent a crucial bedding-in period is being missed.

I don't think Chelsea would let any of their best players come to us unless they were getting something in return; a player, not just cash. Why should they ? If they did, they would be totally fucking stupid imo.
