Confessional thread.... When were you wrong?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

To be honest - I thought most of the above - especially that Thai Frank was just misunderstood by those global do gooders.

I also remember getting very excited about Neri Castillo - I bought a sombrero...... and I admit I joined in with the "Give Pearce a chance" song

I never thought we would beat the scum at wembley and didnt think we would have a trophy until next season at the earliest

I knew we didnt have a snowballs chance in hell of beating the scum on their munich celebration

The last two are probably my best "dont know my arse from my elbow" moments

Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I thought Silva would be too physically weak for the PM.

I still think Kolarov will come good (a pre-mature confession).

I thought Ned was a better footballer than Richards, and that we shipped out the wrong player.

so many on here wrote the lad off.

i thought samaras was gonna be class.

thought stuart pearce was going to be great for us.

wanted mancini sacked

latest are de Jong and Vieira.
I felt NDJ was way too one dimensional and I was calling for him to be dropped. He really proved me wrong last season.

Vieira. I thought he'd never be able to perform in Prem again but again, he provided decent performances last season. Nothing special but had overall nice calming influence on the team when called upon and bagged a couple of goals too.

Stuart Pearce as a manager. I was desperate for him to succeed and the great start led me to believe we have a gem in our hands! Only when he left us I realised what a clown of a manager he was, I was completely blind until that point. Who takes a fucling Beanie with him to the touchlines!!
Great person though. Glad he came to MCFC at the end of his career

Willo Flood & Lee Croft. I was sure they are gonna be the next superstars.

After he scored that late winner against Norwich in the cup during svens season I was still convinced samaras would make it with us

Thought willo flood and Lee croft would be in our team for years to come

From 1st half of Hughes 1st season til about the first half of this season I fckin hated micah richards and wanted him sold

I still think Nigel is really one dimensional. He's just very very good at that one dimension. My view has always been that if we play someone like De Jong, we need to have two extremely positive central midfielders in front of him. Toure and Barry are good players but Barry especially is too negative to play in same team.

After the Liverpool game I asked for Mancini to be sacked. Who would of thought at that time we would go on such a run?

I thought Samaras would be class and remember when we played West Ham in FA Cup Quarters at Eastlands 05-06 season and he wasn't playing, how much of a blow it was that he was missing.

Silva - I knew was telented but thought he'd be too weak.

Not City related, but I thought Liverpool would win the league in 09-10. They had finished 2nd in 08-09. In my defence, I made that prediction before Alonso was sold and Aquilani was bought. Liverpool finished 7th...

I thought that George Poyser was doing a reasonable job back in 1964/5 season keeping us mid table in the old div2 but the board sacked him and appointed Joe Mercer in the close season..............ok I was wrong!!!

I never saw Kompany as a top notch player.... especially when some were suggesting he'd be the next Vieira in midfield.

Even when he moved into defence I thought he was pretty average, but I was WELL WRONG. What a defender. Superstar and our captain for maybe ten years, who knows?

I was a hughes supporter, but I still refuse to say I was wrong on that count because I actually believe we'd have won a cup sooner and also in the champions league by now, albeit with the football I enjoy for the most part. That said, its in the past and there is no arguing with Mancini as long as we continue to progress.

Sometimes its great being wrong!

I thought Stephen Ireland was going to be a big player in the Prem for years to come. Mind you, he's still got time. Whether he's got the head for it is anyone's guess.

I thought Bianchi was going to be brilliant. I walked out of the game against West Ham on his debut and thought we've got ourselves a new Berbatov-style player (when Berbatov was at Spurs and good). It used to annoy me that Sven lost faith in him so quickly but looking how Bianchi's career has panned out since, Sven spotted it well before me!

Going back a few years (this is a bit more embarrassing) - we signed Carl Griffiths when I was about 8 and I thought he looked really good at the start and wanted to get his name on the back of my shirt. Fortunately, the club shop was out of 'Gs' that day and I had to get 'Vonk' on the back of my shirt (the 3rd kit, white shirt, dark navy thin stripes). I got off quite fortunately there and am pleased I don't have to look back knowing I had 'Griffiths' on the back of my shirt!!!

I'm not admitting that though. I mean I was huge fan from the day one and yes it all turned bitter in the end and yes he has been shite for a while BUT he DID prove during "the Superman Season" that if his head would be in it he'd be top footballer.
