So that will be a total of £75m on Carrol, Henderson & Downing. Jesus wept.

This. Absolutely laughable.
As the gag states - Liverpool are 10/1 to win next years Premier League. That means if you put £10 on .... you will lose £10.
£75m quid on a sicknote headbanger up front who has English Duncan Ferguson stamped all over him, a midfield runner who looks like the second coming of Jason McAteer (ie he can run all day but cant pass wind or read a game), and finally a lead-footed crab winger possibly slower than Rickey Holden who's main attribute appears to be that he can kick the ball with his left peg. If Downing was right footed people wouldnt even notice him, he's that pedestrian.
If Im Villa, Im laughing my sides off at £20m. Who's Liverpools Director of Football, some guy called Comoli or Mr McGoo?

Agree with all your points Goat.
Shocking business from Liverpool but I won't complain, they have paid £75 million for £25-30 million worth of players.
....And people moan about our transfer strategy.

Toulouse star Moussa Sissoko admits he has been flattered by rumours linking him with Manchester City and Liverpool.
And the France international has also revealed that he might be ready to try his hand in English football - but only if his club receive the right offer.
The tough-tackling midfielder, who has drawn comparisons to compatriot Patrick Vieira for his all-action style, has been linked with moves away ever since breaking into the first team at Toulouse.
But the 21-year-old is under contract at the club until 2013 and insists he is happy to stay in France, despite the interest from England and Italy.
"I am an ambitious player and I dream to play in the big leagues," he told L'Equipe. "I want to improve as a player and if I am presented with a good opportunity I will take it.
"They talk about Liverpool, Manchester City and Lyon and hearing my name associated with these clubs is wonderful.
"But at the moment there is nothing concrete. I have a contract with Toulouse until June 2013. If I have to stay then it's no problem. Toulouse is a great club."
Isn't he a left back?
City set to land starlet
Hicham links up with Man City in Germany
Skysports.com understands Manchester City are poised to win the race for Hicham Khaloua.
Hicham: Talented teenager set for City
The 16-year-old striker is currently with Spanish second division side FC Cartagena, where he has excelled in their youth side.
He was set to be promoted to the first-team squad this season, but he looks like he will be moving on as Spain and England's top clubs battle for his signature.
Real Madrid, Barcelona and the big-spending Malaga were chasing him, but a move to the Premier League always appeared more likely.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool were all keen - but City have moved to the front of the queue after he accepted an invitation to train with them.
Now he has linked up with City's academy squad, which is currently in Germany, with a view to finalising a move.
Skysports.com understands that the player is now with City and they have already been impressed with what they have seen as they look set to tie up his signature.

What is the worst bit, with bit of patience in negotiations they could've got all three for lot less. They all went like "we'll offer you XX" "We want XX + 7 million" "Ok" ----> *selling teams chairman looks confused*.
Honestly, I got no problem investing big money for top young English talent. It's one approach and everyone knows you have to pay premium. It's just how average all these players are that shocks me. Henderson is nothing more than a talent at this stage and doesn't really look like someone who has that much natural ability to help him turn into world class. Downing is a slow and soft winger who does have a great left peg. Carroll, well whoever said Duncan Ferguson was spot on in so many levels.
