As soon as they demanded teams should name a 25 man squad logic dictated this would happen.

I agree, doesn't make it any more palatable though.

Rule was farcical. If you have someone in your 25 man squad its because you believe they can contribute to the team. Why shouldn't you be allowed to pick them.

Why not? Holloway had a very good point, the FA asked for a 25 man squad and then fine you for choosing players from the list they demanded in the first place? They are fucking clown shoes mate and this ruling was a year too late.

If you look at the quality of the players 'numbered 15 to 25' in the squad of a top team you will find a drop off in standards when compared to their '1 to 11'.

Make the same comparison with Blackpool (or the likes) and the drop off becomes a cliff face.

Anyway, I was well aware that there would be those who disagreed with me - just thought you would all like to debate it anyway ;-)

So we are punishing the likes of Blackpool for not being as rich as other clubs? And then fining them money they apparently do not have?

Alarm bells are ringing Willy.

I have gotten used to squad rotation - through gritted teeth.

The trouble with the Blackpools and Wolves etc is that they have a nasty tendency to go in for wholesale changes in personnel for games they think they can't win anyway. Such games, of course, don't really exist - except in their minds.

Commonsense prevails at last, doesn't help Wolves and Blackpool with their stupid fines last season mind.

I hope we don't lose the league next season cause a rival tanks a weakened team.

A coach has to do their best over the season. Sometimes that involves targeting some games more than others. Sky happily do that by hyping up fixtures and having things like Super Sunday where all the Sky4 played each other on the same day.

Big teams are allowed rotate their squad, teams are allowed play for a draw. The tactic of resting players against big opposition can backfire badly so there isn't a lot of need for the FA to stop it. The logic of allowing teams to use players from their 25 man squads without restriction is fair.

The only way out of this would be to split the squad into 5 of 5, with your best players in pool one, etc. You could then say you can't play a game with more than one player from pool 5 and you must have at least 2 from pools 1&2 etc, so there's a limit to the weakening. Although that would still need a get out for major injury crisis.

Or they can just accept that a manager's job is to manage a club. If the fans and board don't like the way they're doing it, I'm sure they'll let them know
