What's The Story With Nedum?

Postby King Kev » Sat Jul 16, 2011 8:56 am

Nedum is expected to play in the friendly at Altrincham this afternoon.

Am I alone in thinking that he should be in the USA with the rest of the squad? I think he is a decent player and can't understand why Mancini doesn't rate him.

For me he is a very good squad player and, whilst not a first team regular, is the sort of player who could do a job for 15-20 games a season for us.

Most of us all agree - but for whatever reason Mancini doesn't fancy him. Shrug. Happens sometimes. Ah well. Life goes on - we just have to accept that Mancini sees others as better prospects.

I think he sat himself down one day and thought 'Micah or Ned for spare RB?...Micah....Ned or Boyata for spare CB? Boyata'...he obviously viewed others as better prospects. Shame. But that's how it is. He'll leave and hopefully prove us all wrong.

Yeah i had high hopes for Nedum and still think hes a quality player. In fairness he has been pushing to be a regular for such a long time under various managers and i think more than anything his own patience ran out trying to break into the team and then actually staying in it.

His outburst on soccer am was really dissapointing as i would have not expected it from him as he always seemed a really good pro but i think the frustration had just built up on him.I presume its only matter of time before hes snapped up as he has quality but i think with that interview he really shot himself in the foot.I'm sure he will do really well wherever he ends up.

with Mee gone and even with Savic (and who knows how Kolo will be) we need the back up he offers
It may be my last year as a season ticket holder as it just doesn't seem the same with so few English and local players (but I said that last year)

If Mancini was thinking of keeping him he would surely have been on the plane to the usa.

Shame isn't it. I still think he could do it at the level we are at. If it weren't for injuries he could have been rated higher than Micah. He has the game for it, has the mentality too, just not had a chance under Bobby and seems to have been forgotten about.

Villa, Bolton, Fulham, Sunderland would all improve their defenses by buying him this summer.

Made of glass for most of his career and average for Sunderland. I really like the fella but I think he's just too short for a quality CB and not mobile enough for an overlapping RB. Becoming a star player for somebody like Bolton would be a good move for him.

I agree the soccer AM slot was a disaster for him, not sure how he allowed that to happen given he is really intelligent.

Good luck Ned.

I'm surprised there's not more interest in him from other clubs - homegrown and a decent talent. I've no idea what wage he's on but I would think it's relatively modest by Prem standards?

Thought he performed well at Sunderland, certainly not the reason why they crumbled so spectacularly in the second half of the season. I expect Bolton or Blackburn to swoop for him if Cahill or Samba leave respectively

He signed his own death warrant at the end of the season before last on soccer am slaggin Bobby off about Lescott not playing after an injury when he was supposedly fit again n costing him a world cup place n a few other things, from then on it was clear he wouldn't play for city again. Its not about his ability its about his attitude n respect for his manager, any city player no matter who they are who comes out n publically slags the manager can go for me. Thats exactly it.

I like neddy always thought he was good but you cant question the gaffer like he did and get away with it(unless you are an unbelivably special talent), no choice but to move him on. I reckon he did what he did cos he didnt think mancini would be around long enough, slagged him off out on loan mancini sacked and then back in as normal. Unfortunatly for him(fortunatly for us) it didnt work out that way and while everyone else got on with mancinis way of doing things he threw his city career down the pan by throwing his toys out of the pram. Shame cos he was one of my faves!

You cannot understand how a player that isn't in the super star bracket came out with an outburst and slagged the manager off on soccer am is not wanted by Mancini????

alright then.

alright then.

The Soccer Am thing may have slipped my mind.

I still think he is a decent player though and think it's a shame to write him off because of one silly mistake.

I maybe wrong but his last appearence for us was against United at home and he was our best player by a mile on the day.

Next game out of the squad all together. This was before the Soccer AM outburst.

I reckon he is good enough to be a squad player in a top team however he hasnt played enough football as a first teamer at his age and should move on.

Not mobile enough?

He is like shit off a shovel, still, was running 10.5 second 100 meters at 18, sure he had some knee problems, but still has plenty of speed. Centre backs don't need to be as fast as full backs.

Ned has the football brain to hold his own.

Good luck to him.

Going on SoccerAM and slating Mancini would have put him in the shithouse and as with most managers, the only exit door leads out of the club once you are in there.

Mancini seems like ultimate "my way or the highway" manager. Similar to someone like Taggart in that sense. It would demand serious crawling and arse kissing from Nedum to get himself back in Mancini's favour. Lot of that outburst was obviously influenced how Ireland was treated since him and Stevie seem to be bezzie mates.

Whole Lescott thing was fucking ridiculous anyway. Our club doctors had said he isn't fit to play, he lacked any sort of match fitness anyway. Then they start moaning that he wasn't given starting spot in one game where Cappello was around. Like we are here to concentrate on individual efforts to get into national side rather than winning fucking football games.

Of course the irony of the whole thing is that Lescott (if he can remain fit) is starter for us now while Nedum is left looking for new club. I'm sure Lescott will send him flowers for his efforts when Nedum is in relegation fight with Wigan and Lescott is preparing for Champion's League final.

Only reason why I am so bitter about this is that I was such HUGE Nedum fan before his outburst. I thought he'd have great future with us. And he has got all the tools to be squad member (not a starter mind) for us even among our set of Galactiga's. But he played his hand all fucking wrong which is fucking shame for everyone considered.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
