Three in reality. The club showed how much it cared for the Carling Cup this year. Cant imagine it will be to high on the priorities this year either. We won't be swapping around to much in CL like we did in the UEFA Cup last year.

We operated with three strikers this year. Cant see that changing to much.

Whoever he is he made Dzeko look like a first class world-beater in San Francisco. I hope he's better than that with the real team around him.

Yaya is good enough to fulfil that role easily but, for me, I'd much prefer an out and out specialist in that position and let Yaya do what he does best; which brings us nicely back to the original question as to who everyone would like to see come in and do it for us.

To be honest, I'm not sure who we ought to try and get; perhaps Benzema might be an option ??

The idea is to rest and switch players, not get Yaya to do everything again.

Our system relies on so much movement that there are grey areas with regards to positions anyway - a versatile player that's good with the ball will do for us.

Actually, as things stand, we have lot less strength in depth in central midfield than front three. I see no reason playing YaYa anywhere but central midfield and if Tevez goes and Aguero comes in that's the only position I hope we can find some help for.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Regardless of whether or not posters think we need a fourth striker the FACTS are Bobby has said he wants four top class strikers, this will enable formation changes and rotation as and when required given the amount of games to contend with it makes perfect sense, and he is the man making the decisions.

I ask again........ Suggestions for a fourth striker anyone?

If you mean time date what he was wearing what he had for his breakfast, what colour boxers he had on etc then no sorry but he said it in an interview with Sky sports earlier in the close season but no doubt that will not suffice with everyone on here.
Basically he said in order to compete in all competitions next season we need four top class strikers, we have three in Carlos Edin n Mario obviously now we will only have two

Ok jesus what a complete waste of time this is!!!!!!
We'll just see then if Bobby has four strikers in the first team squad come the start of the season
To everyone concerned I am very sorry for daring to start a thread asking a perfectly valid question obviously nobody wants to give any serious or valid input into what the originally posted question was, once again my apolologies

Of course he will. Just like he included Ade and Jo in the 25 man squad last year. He wont be spending any money on that 4th striker though.

Did you think that was somehow called for?

Come on you guys, cut Ruthless some slack here.

Bobby Manc wants four strikers (which is not unreasonable, given that Keegan once talked about wanting six of them) and Ruthless asked the reasonable question as to who everyone would want/like to see as their fourth option.

It may be that we don't buy anyone but use one of the Academy 'products', or revamp the team formation and use someone like Adam Johnson in that role instead. On the other hand, Bobby Manc might have some name up his sleeve.

I've suggested Benzema, but I've as much idea as anyone else as to what the official thinking is so, on that basis as I said previously, cut Ruthless some slack here and give the question some reasonable thought.

Just had a further thought about this.

If Twitcher is really serious about signing Adebayor from us and the main stumbling bock is, purportedly, his wages, I wonder if we could arrange some sort of exchange deal for Adebayor and Defoe (who currently seems to be out of favour with the Cockney Barrow Boy).

We'd get our fourth striker and Spurs would counterbalance Ade's wages on their books, by not having Defoe's salary to pay out.

Could this be a viable option, or is Defoe not good enough for us ??
