Thread should be re-titled

From what I'm mhearing, City are further down the line than "breaking news" would suggest. The deal is as good as done.

Getting stick for initially saying Tevez collapse would shelve Aguero. Told by good City source - either bad info or things changed quickly

Seems like this one is pretty much done. Frankly amazing signing if true.

really? i mean it's like saying Brad Pitt's next wife will be a movie star. Hardly a stretch to guess that City will sign Aguero, is it?

Still, OS + Shirt saying "Kun" on the back with that sporty new home collar is what will convince me.

Also, i don't think we're better with Tevez leaving and Aguero coming in...i believe we lose a bit, so all in all, while it's a "reasonable" thing we still won't be better than last season yet imho.

cheers

IF we sign Aguero, get Nasri somehow plus one winger meanwhile shipping out Ade,RSC,Neds,Bellers and MJ.

I'll be very happy despite losing the best player ive ever seen to grace our shirt.

For some strange reason getting rid of some of those players means an awful lot to me this transfer window and i find myself getting as excited about players leaving almost as much as i do when it comes to new signings. It was a big relief for me to see Jo had parted ways and Boateng to a slightly lesser extent as i really could not see him getting into the side any time soon.

That said undoubtedly the signing of Aguero will be the moment of the summer for me if it actually bears fruition, which im begining to believe it will.Anyway it will not just be a huge coup for city if we get him but a big plus for the premier leage also.

Definitely with you on this one, we need to get some balance on the books. As much I would love all these newcomers ala Auguero etc, we do need a bloody good clear out regardless of sentiment, but at sensible prices of course

I agree with all of that.
However no point crying over watching the paint dry ...errr, I mean Tevez is a goner and we need to find a replacement. Aguero is as close as it gets out of the players we have any sort of chance signing. So it would be pretty fucking massive catch.

More positive central midfielder (Sneijder? Nasri?) to replace one of our negative Neddie's and as far as attacking power goes we will have more or less replaced Tevez.

Re: Aguero. Two things, first he was preferred to Tevez by Argie coach and two, Aguero is four years younger than Tevez. Aguero is actually much MUCH better player than Tevez was four years ago.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Today:

http://www.sport.es/es/noticias/liga-bb ... 9848.shtml

Kun Aguero is definitively heading for the Premier League. The Argetine plyer hoped up until the last moment for Real Madrid, but the whites said no to his last ‘offer’, which happened this last Wednesday. The Argie wanted to carry on playing in La Liga at all costs, and awaited a move from Florentino Perez, but finally the attempt was abandoned. Although Madrid WERE interested in Kun at the start of the summer, they haven’t wanted to fall out with Atletico and have opted not to go for the player. Lucky for Manchester City, who can give him an exit more than fitting.

Madrid wanted to sign him in January and contact was maintained until La Liga was finished. The player’s agents had a clear message that he must force his exit and Madrid would ride to the rescue for €45M, but on condition they had a friendly accord with Atletico. But the media fuss caused by the player messed up the operation. Atletico were indignant about the players stance and Real opted to stay on the sidelines just in case the player had no other offer.

Aguero’s agents looked for other options, whilst keeping an eye on Madrid. They tried their luck with Juve, but the Otalians only offered €35M for the player. And Atletico also came to think that Real may be a solution for the stalemate. There were contacts between the clubs until El City entered the scene, and the sky brightened for all parties, except Real.

The English club, hard-pressed by the departure of Tevez, already offered €40M to start with, and made an irresistable offer to the player. No less than €9M per season, almost double what he gets in Manzanares. The agents of Kun accepted immediately and Atletico are being pressure to close the deal asap, despite the fact they expected to get the €45M of the escape clause.

But Aguero wanted to go to Madrid and was waiting for a last gesture from Perez. Perez wanted it in January and promised to make an effort in the summer market, but it’s been put on hold. He’s not interested in damaging relations with Atletico and, besides, has clearly indicated that he wants to bring in a midfield player like Neymar. He costs the same and the signing of the Brasilian will work out cheaper (wages-wise?). For Madrid there was no doubt once the operation for Neymar got going.

Despite all this, City have stated that signing Kun is not easy. Their manager, Mancini, stated that “he’s a very important player (LOL) and there are competitors for his signature. It’s not easy.” And City still fear a last effort from Madrid, although it seems like the ‘no’ of the whites is final.

Atletico Madrid sources have confirmed to Sky Sports that they expect to open official talks with Manchester City over Sergio Aguero in next 48 hours.

Aguero emerged as City's top transfer target as Carlos Tevez's future at the club remains far from clear.

At first Roberto Mancini suggested any bid was dependent on whether Tevez stayed or not, but it is no apparent that they will go for Aguero no matter what.

Aguero, who has made it clear he wants to leave Atletico, has been linked with Real Madrid and Juventus - but City are now clear favourites, and the player is known to be keen on a move to Eastlands.

It is believed that one of Aguero's lead agents Hernan Reguera held talks with City earlier this week and that went well.

Now Atletico sources have told Sky Sports that official talks are expected to begin this weekend.

Belief
City boss Mancini has reiterated his belief that Aguero would be a great signing for the club.

"Aguero is young and can start to score a lot. He will become a top striker. He is 23 and now is his time," he said.

"He is like Carlos Tevez and could play with Carlos, or Edin Dzeko or Mario Balotelli.

"He can play as first striker or second striker. He has good technique. After many years in a top club like Atletico Madrid he can play Premier League.

"Aguero is a good player, like Samir Nasri, like Cesc Fabregas, like Robin van Persie - there are a lot of good players in England."

I like the last line, not so sure Wenger will feel the same.Nice one Mancini

Doomy mate - I´m as sceptical as the next guy over ITK - but it does seem there are one or two plausible sources on forums which shall remain nameless. One guy even gave dates and times of medicals - bang on. Yes I won´t fully believe it until it´s on the OS but out of the tens of thousands of blues residing in and around M/c the law of averages says there´s bound to be someone with adjacent to reputable or kosher information. As for Tev , I seriously wouldn´t mind the two of them, at least for a season to see how it pans out and to give Kun a bit of time to adjust
Eagerly awaiting that OS splash home page!
