I met Summerbee and Tony Book in Debenham's cafe ....... it was called paulden's then ...... in about 1970 (I was 13).

Got talking to them and they bought me fish and chips . Can't see the likelihood of any modern day player doing that.

I also remember Andy Hinchcliffe scoring direct from a corner in my first game at Maine Road, Shrewsbury 2-2 I think, so he was a bit of hero for a while after that.

Loved White, though. I'm sure he was in construction and a bit of a porker last time I saw him.

That was my first game too - Xmas 1989 if I remember right.

I used to love David White - was sat near him at last game at Maine Road - he's a bit of a porker these days!

Niall Quinn, Spent many hours pretending to be him in the back garden.

ActuLly I now remember having an argument as an 8 year old with my uncle as I thought Tony coton was better than Peter schmeichal. Joys of childhood.
Tracking back is overrated.

Waggy for me too - swapped allegiance to Alan Ogley when he left (the fact that he played mostly in the reserves didn't matter that much when I was 7).

Met him at a recent golf charity event - great bloke and just chatted like any football fan

.............. just embarrassed myself that evening by - thinking ".............is that Alex?........" then asking the guys next to me at dinner............"That chap you were just talking to - is that Alex Williams?" - they confirmed it was - but my emarrassment was complete a few mins later when my mate pointed out that the chap I had asked (to avoid me embarrassing myself) was Brian Horton - who obviously was expecting me to recognise him

It's Brian Horton Horton.......Isn't it?

Anyone remember Big Dave's "meat" header v Ipswich? For me, it is the yardstick by which all headed goals are judged.

Mick McCarthy came close in a 'derby' game in the mid eighties.
Not quite as good a header, but it was similar and it was against the Filth.
Watson's went like a rocket.

Yeah, the one that was live on telly with Tony Grealish playing for us. Beast of a header that was. He had the advantage of a jump though; Big Dave had both feet on the ground.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

The great Bert Trautmann - the reason I became 'City daft' in the first place.

Later on, it was 'Big Neil' (Young); described once by Joe Mercer as "smooth as silk".

Rodney Marsh, was the first with the swagger, although he was frustrating at times. Tueart was a big favourite, and was gutted when he left the first time.
