1525: FOOTBALL - The Evening Chronicle's Chief Sports Writer and NUFC correspondent Lee Ryder has said on Twitter: "I'm hearing Joey Barton has been released by Newcastle."

Confirmed!!!

Newcastle United can confirm that Joey Barton has been placed on the transfer list today (Monday). The player has been advised that he can leave the club on a free transfer.

Just been reading his Twitter feed, there's loads of references to old philosophers and harking on about the need for the working class to uprise against the regime of the empire...interesting for a millionaire to come out with.
