Think they're hanging on to him for now in the expectation he'll get better & they can ask for really serious money for him.

You may well be right Ted but he's the sort of wide player we should bring in. Young, bags of talent and can only get better. If we get in an established player he won't get enough games to be kept happy.

It's all very well saying Mancini doesn't play wingers but remember the mini panic when Johnson was injured and Mancini was moaning that he hadn't got a player to change a game. If the flying full backs aren't working on a given day we need a quality wide man to bring on. I still don't see the point of buying Dzeko and not giving him the sort of service he clearly thrives on.

When Mancini says he wants 'two, maybe three players' I presume he means Nasri or AN Other, a wide man and a substitute for Tevez if he goes. I'm not particularly keen on a swap for Eto'o because of his age but given Tevez's price tag and wage bill is there another deal possible? Maybe Tevez will stay after all.

I want him to stay. He's one of my favorite City players ever.
But I feel that he should defintely be getting playing time at this point in his career.
Bolton would be a good fit for him.

Yep. Mancini's getting rid of a City great and someone a real affinity for the club. In exchange, seems we're getting some average Italian winger with a rubbish injury record.

If Cerci comes, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Still, if we're going to ship out SWP and/or Weiss, surely we should be looking to improve on them both. By all accounts, Cerci isn't that player.

SWP may want to go and to play more throughout the season. Can't begrudge him that. Not a great decision from a club perspective though - I think he deserves a shot here after the pre-season he's had (and given the history he has with us).

Exactly.
I could maybe stomach it if we were going to sign someone CONSIDERABLY better than him but I don't get it if we are going to try and replace him with someone marginally better or same level or in Cerci's case bit worse player.

Also, SWP is a winger and while he may not be first choice anymore, it's the most substituted position and he can provide pace and help defending on the bench. Also, he is someone who will NEVER shrink ie he always raises his hand up and is willing to take the ball forward even if he doesn't always pull it off. In MY opinion, perfect player to have on the bench.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I posted this in the transfer bollox thread but thought itd be relevant here as well,

On Fox Sports,
The Sun: Shaun Wright-Phillips has been told it's up to him whether he leaves Manchester City.

but
Daily Mirror: Shaun Wright-Phillips won't be allowed to leave Manchester City until Roberto Mancini finds a replacement.

and
Daily Star: Roberto Mancini has told Manchester City he wants to sign Samir Nasri and Alessio Cerci before the Premier League season starts.
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

A Mancini trait, if he doesn't like him or has been upset by him, they won't play. Good or bad, you decide?

I genuinely wish he was in the team ahead of that fucking clown balotelli. Just got back from the game, he was utter shite. Lazy and useless. Shame to see Shaun on the bench. He would of bust a gut today for the team.

I'd of expected more than £4mil for him ... I love the fella but in reality he's going to get very limited playing time with us so for his sake it's better he gets some games. At least that will get the wage bill down a tad if it happens ...

I would expect at least 8 million - wasn't his contract nearly up though?
3 million for a, dear to our hearts though he is, mediocre 30 year old winger with a year left on his contract isn't appalling business I guess

He'll probably get most of that fee in any case as we will undoubtedly pay up his contract!
