I think today showed that we are behind some other clubs when it comes to preparation for this season.

We were nowhere near as sharp as our opponents and the difference in fitness was there for all to see.

I think Mancini signposted it when he said it would be another month before we are 100%, does he still not understand the demands of the Prem? Had that game been the first of pre-season I could've understood the apparent fitness levels but that was worrying

Maybe he wants the players slightly under cooked so that we stronger than the rest at the end of the season?

Not saying it's the right strategy but we did finish last season very strongly.

It is the right strategy. You don't win the league in August.

Have to agree - some nice performances and good possession stuff pre-season but we simply haven´t done the donkey work necessary to kick off a PL campaign. Let´s hope Swansea are cannon fodder and we are at it from the get go

Outside of that mess I saw today, I have been pretty pleased. Would like to see Kuni and Tevez on the field though (or at least one of them.)

Some quiet reflection later and I'm remembering the first game against PL oppo last season, Spurs battered us, possibly worse than Utd but without scoring. Maybe we got our wake up call a week early and so can hit the ground running in the league this time.

To be clear though, anything less than an attacking display and three points against Swansea would be terrible. The season starts on Monday, let's hope Bobby has us ready for it

This. Mind you, even that isn't the be-all-and-end-all.

I think we were bizarre on Sunday but other than that, compared to last year's fucking circus I think it's looked good. I don't understand what was wrong with some of the players at the weekend & why people like Yaya, who of course played for Barca, had difficulty passing a ball ten yards. I don't blame Bob for that though; the players didn't do their jobs properly.

I disagree, we need to set down a marker. Part of the secret of Utds success over the years is that they scare smaller teams to death. We don't scare anyone. We need to start spanking smaller teams so that the mid table ones get nervous before playing us.
