Would Nasri accept the Fabregas spot or is he adamant on moving?

Didn't look match fit tonight imo. Would still have linked up well with Silva though. Played a lot of nice 1's without getting a 2, as the French strikers chased forward looking at their own feet & punted the ball in whatever direction they were pointing, to huge cheers from the crowd & praise from commentators.

Chilli's No 10 Jorge Valdivia was the best player on the pitch imo. Was playing in the Emirates for Al Ain until recently.

i hope we play this.

------- De Jong -------- Y. Toure ---------

Silva ----------- Nasri -------------- Milner/AJ/Balo/Aguero

--------- Aguero/Dzeko/Tevez ----------

Unfortunately this will keep Barry and his much-needed, underrated qualities out of the squad (although that might happen anyways)

I know Nasri, like Milner, has stated that his best and preferred position is in the middle (where he plays for France most of the time) but unfortunately his club manager insists on playing him wide whether it is due to personnel (like Fab needing to be central) or whatever other reason...also like Milner.
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

I was thinking more of a....

Yaya--de Jong
Aguero--Nasri--Silva
Dzeko

But that does leave us horribly short on defenders and without a goalkeeper, I think we'd leak goals like water.

Alright, alright. Topic title changed.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

This morning we have the Telegraph and the Fail:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... -City.html

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... senal.html?

Tele:
Arsène Wenger is poised to receive a £60 million transfer windfall after deciding that he is now prepared to sell both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.
Arsenal's valuations still must be met for each player, but there were clear signs on Wednesday night that deals for both midfielders are likely to be completed before the start of the Premier League season on Saturday.
Barcelona returned with a new offer for Fabregas yesterday that, including add-ons, is worth around £35 million.
Arsenal were last night still hoping to push the deal to £37 million, but there is a feeling now on both sides that one of the longest running transfer sagas is finally coming to an end.
Manchester City are also quietly confident of signing Nasri before the weekend, with Arsenal willing to sell if their £23 million valuation is met.
Wenger said only last month that Arsenal could no longer be regarded as a "big club" if they lost both Fabregas and Nasri this summer but, as pre-season training has unfolded, he has revised that view.
Fabregas is clearly now unhappy at Arsenal and has not played since April, while Nasri is the final year of his contract and has decided not to sign a new deal. If he stayed, Nasri could then leave Arsenal on a free transfer next summer.
Manchester United already have a £20 million bid on the table but Manchester City are now expected to meet Arsenal's asking price.
Nasri can also command superior personal terms with City and, according to reports in France, has already provisionally agreed a weekly wage of £185,000. It all leaves Wenger facing arguably the biggest test of his managerial career.
The transfer window closes in three weeks and his budget is suddenly likely to swell by around £60 million.
The first priority will be to secure a centre-back, with Everton's Phil Jagielka, Bolton's Gary Cahill and Blackburn's Chris Samba still the principal three targets.
Wenger has already added significantly to his creative midfield options this summer by signing Gervinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
However, he is now expected to renew his interest in Valencia midfielder Juan Mata. Arsenal hope that Mata will be available for about £20 million.
With Wenger committed to reinvesting the money in his squad, a bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema can also be expected. Wenger wants to provide other options alongside Robin van Persie and Marouane Chamakh, particularly as Nicklas Bendtner is poised to leave.
Wenger has always been a big admirer of Benzema, although the France striker has recently said that he wants to stay and fight for his place at Madrid.
Lille's Eden Hazard and Marseille's Mathieu Valbuena are two other creative midfielders that Wenger has tracked. From within the existing squad, both Gervinho and Andrei Arshavin are options to play in Nasri's usual position to the left of the main central striker.
There will, however, be no shortage of players wanting to move inside into the free role that Fabregas has generally assumed between the striker and two central midfielders.
Aaron Ramsey has shone during pre-season, while Van Persie could also play in a deeper position or Theo Walcott could be given his chance through the middle.
Yet, for all the options, Wenger knows that he will face a massive task to replace Fabregas, a player he has nurtured for the past eight years. He had hoped throughout the summer that it might be possible to persuade Fabregas to stay but the lure of the European champions – and his hometown club – is proving too much.
Arsenal have made it clear throughout negotiations that they want at least £40 million and, while no final agreement has been reached, the two clubs are now close to a compromise. The current offer has Barcelona paying an up-front fee of £25.5 million, with a further £5.3 million to follow depending on appearances.
Fabregas has agreed to wave a loyalty bonus from Arsenal for the remaining years of his contract that is worth £4 million. He is also understood to be willing to take a pay-cut from his £120,000-a-week salary in order to help fund his return to Barcelona. It all means that the deal on the table is currently worth £35 million.
Arsenal suspect that Fabregas would attract offers of £50 million on the open market – enquiries have been made by both Manchester City and Chelsea – but they also know that their captain would only go to Barcelona.
In the circumstances, and having resisted Barcelona's advances for the past 15 months, there is a sense that all sides need to move on. The captaincy of Arsenal is now likely to pass to Van Persie, although Thomas Vermaelen is also a strong candidate.

Fail:
Barcelona are certain they have finally succeeded in their long pursuit of Cesc Fabregas with a package worth around £31million.
Arsenal were still waiting to receive any such bid but the clamour from reliable Catalan sources suggested a verbal agreement was very close.
And to make matters worse for Arsene Wenger, he also looks set to lose Samir Nasri to Manchester City after a change of heart at the Emirates.

The latest Barcelona bid for Fabregas is thought to be a £25.5m transfer fee plus £5.25m of add-ons, depending on the Arsenal captain’s success at the Nou Camp.
Fabregas has agreed to forgo £4.4m he is owed by Arsenal as a loyalty payment, which had been a sticking point in this summer’s negotiations.
Barcelona have included this sum in the transfer package, claiming it takes the total beyond the £35m asking price, but Arsenal see this as a payment saved, rather than part of the fee paid.
The clubs are deep in talks about the details, such as how much is to be paid up front. The Gunners want the £25.5m now but Barca are offering £18m with the rest to follow next year.

Arsenal appear to have accepted that Barcelona cannot greatly increase their bid by the end of the month, and that Fabregas is set on returning to the club he left eight years ago.
The 24-year-old has not played for Arsenal since a defeat at Bolton in April. Wenger was ready to name him in the squad for Tuesday’s Champions League play-off against Udinese, but the midfielder is well short of match fitness.
The latest move is set to bring an end to one of the longest-running transfer sagas and Fabregas could even be unveiled by the weekend.
The midfielder has made it clear this summer that he wants to finally rejoin the club he left as a 15-year-old boy.

Arsenal have also decided to accept bids of £22m for Nasri, which could leave them bereft ahead of their opener at Newcastle on Saturday.
Juan Mata is expected to join from Valencia and Wenger is chasing at least one centre half.
Arsenal fans, who have put up with six seasons without a trophy, have only seen Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gervinho arrive in major deals this summer.
Wenger, who turned the Gunners into a force in English football in the 90s, is under pressure to end their long wait for silverware.
But with the threat of both Manchester clubs, Chelsea and a rejuvenated Liverpool, that task appears as tough as ever.

From Lequipe.fr (from Le Parisien) http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/breves20 ... -fait.html :

Nasri at City, a done deal ?

Samir Nasri should sign at least Friday for Manchester City according to Le Parisien. Gunners and Citizens agreed for a 25 millions euros transfert. Arsène Wenger, Arsenal's coach, finally chosed to sell his midfielder rather than let him go on free. Coming from Marseilles for 16 millions three years ago, Nasri (24) should earn 200 000 euros "brut" (not net, I don't know how you say it...) in Manchester. He already told it to his NT's manager, Laurent Blanc and some of his teammates in French's national team. Roberto Mancini, got his priority of the summer.

So I guess we can say it's a done deal.

I think Coyle's told them to either put-up or shut-up so he can get on with his season.

They would have won the league had Wenger brought those three in last summer.

If he doesn't spend some serious cash this summer on players such as these three then it's safe to say that he has definitely gone mad.

If Nasri would had been Bob's priority he would had sign him a month ago. Other sources are saying that Arse want 25, and City are offering only 22 or 23 and so on. We paid a ridiculous fee for Balotelli, but for a world class player like Nasri we are still negociating and maybe, just maybe, another "world class" italian, Cerci, is available for us to bring in.
