.. don't change anything.
I watched both Odense vs. Villareal and Bayern Munich vs. FC Zurich today and the referees behind the goal missed a blatant penalty in one game and also denied Odense a clear corner in the other and those were the only decisions they had to make all game.
Why are they there when they can't even get the simple decisions correct?
When will FIFA realise that adding more refs doesn't change a thing??

Think its a good idea.Would like to see them on the pitch.I think besides the game you mention in other games they have been an aid.

There's always going to be debating points of there are a thousand refs on the pitch. One instance doesn't really prove anything.
I like the extra refs -if only to put players dragging each other around the box during set plays. I've a feeling Stoke will be conceding many a pen in the EL this season.

i thought the refs behind the goal are only there to judge if a ball crosses the line for a goal, and that's it? they aren't supposed to be making decisions on fouls, offsides, etc. at least that's the way i understood it.

They can call fouls if they want...
It just seems like they never want to...

even in slow mo you can't tell if the ball is really all the way out...it would be pretty Bolshevik to call that ball out seeing it in real-time, don't you think? You have to have a certain sense of liberty about the beauty of sports...and give the credit to an athletic endeavour when the call is that close, don't you think? i do.

pointless.
they never call anything, they either havent got the balls or been told to only interact if asked by the main referee.
ive watched countless games where blatant penalties/free kicks have happened and they stand there like statues

In all the games I have watched that have involved the additional officials, I have NEVER seen one of them instigate a decision. They are a total waste of time IMO as they continually miss decisions they are there to make.

Exactly what I was going to say. Not a bad idea in theory but if they aren't prepared to make decisions then clearly its a wasted excersise.

I think if the extra ref's had the same power as linesmen and their was still a clear head honcho i.e the main ref there would be less controvosy. It's a good step forward to me.It works in American football.Anyway of making the man in the middle's job less open to mis-judgement is a positve to me.

You would like to see them on the pitch? are you fucking insane? there are already 23 people on the pitch and even the ref isnt prone to getting in the way of the ball let alone allowing another numpty to join him.
The only addition we need in football is goal line technology and not some divvies pretending to be usefull....PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

According to some of the comments on here goal line tech is all we need.Maybe extra refs is not the answer but goal line tech is not gonna stop any fouls or handballs or dives being spotted.
If your telling me that reducing the fuck ups that we all see on a weekly basis are better than having a couple more refs who most of the time will try to avoid interferring with the play then maybe any progress is a bad thing
