Carling Cup

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Carling Cup

Postby Beefymcfc » Tue Aug 23, 2011 4:51 pm

With all the furore of the Nasri deal I almost forgot that there are quite a few games on tonight. Just looked for a game on TV and not one of them is being shown live (to my knowledge). Now, I know it's not the most exotic of cups but with the Prem sides coming into it in this round you'd have thought there's be more interest. There's a few decent ties as well involving Swansea, Sunderland and Villa I'd have thought one would surely be shown.

Anyway, here's tonights fixtures:

First Round:

Bristol Rovers vs Watford Kick-off at 19:45 at Memorial Stadium
Charlton Athletic vs Reading Kick-off at 19:45 at The Valley
Crystal Palace vs Crawley Town Kick-off at 19:30 at Selhurst Park

Second Round:

Aston Villa v Hereford, R2, 19:45
Bournemouth v West Brom, R2, 19:45
Brighton v Sunderland, R2, 19:45
Burnley v Barnet, R2, 19:45
Bury v Leicester, R2, 19:45
Cardiff v Huddersfield, R2, 19:45
Doncaster v Leeds, R2, 19:45
Millwall v Morecambe, R2, 19:45
Northampton v Wolverhampton, R2, 19:45
Norwich v MK Dons, R2, 19:45
QPR v Rochdale, R2, 19:45
Shrewsbury v Swansea, R2, 19:45
Wycombe v Nott'm Forest, R2, 19:45

Huddersfield travel to Cardiff for tonight's fixture too.

I am hoping Morecambe can do Millwall as well.

Edited to reflect it mate. The Carling Cup website is shit, just C&P'd off BBC now.

Donny are also playing Leeds. Don't know why but I wouldn't mind seeing that one.

I can see both Sven and his side-kick having serious problems if they don't make it through.

Some shockers out there tonight, all the prem new boys were dumped out on their arse, the cynic in me thinks they engineered it that way to ensure they concentrate on survival.

Sunderland?! Well done Brighton, they are on a right run of good form, Poyet has got them playing some good stuff.

a good chunk of sunderlands 1st team played too, i think it could be a long season for them, despite signing 10+ players there team on opening day wasnt much different to the shit team they had last year...

Bruce signed average players as though intent on getting involved in a relegation battle.

Rubbish. Sunderland are GUARANTEED to come anywhere from 7th to 15th. That is a midtable squad.

I agree....me Tokyo and BT all went to school there if nothing else. I've spent many an enjoyably freezing afternoon at Gigg Lane and I have a soft spot for the Shakers

Gyan is off to the african cup of nations in January so sunderland will be left with Ki and the young lad wickham as their two frontmen. Think this team could struggle this year.

It was a cert all 3 promoted teams wanted to be put out of the carling cup, warnock has comt out and said it himself.
