If its on a similar deal to the one Michael Owen is on at United then I would be delighted with this signing.

He isnt up to 40 games a season but if used correctly and returns to anything like peak years then he would be an excellent signing.

Not wrong, remember him at the world cup 06, he was far and away englands best player.

I doubt he will rediscover that level of form but we can do a lot worse than signing a free agent of his calibre on a short term deal.

It's win/win. If he's fit, he'll challenge our starters, give us more options, if he's shit he'll leave at the end of the year, no big problem.

Another element to this is that as he is a free agent, we aren't under pressure with regards to time. I'm fairly certain we could add to our 25 man squad at any time (if there was a space) as long as it was a free agent coming in.

Injuries aside, he is a superbly disciplined holding player who breaks up play and passes the ball well. I always bigged him up when others were knocking him over his games for England and I've no reason to change my mind. Terrific replacement for NdJ when he needs a rest or has a knock.

Indeed.....I know it's on the other thread but that's why, if Bellamy doesn't leave, it would be utter madness to not try to get him involved. I'm pretty sure we have space and he's homegrown also is he not?
